Had my mtb nicked on the weekend in my town centre and it was locked! That means the theif had to break the lock infront of hundreds of shoppers, obviously in this day and age no one did f**k all! I woulda loved to catch the smackhead doing it! It got me thinking tho, what alarms does everyone on here have to avoid the scum getting in to their car? I`ve been looking at the falcon range, for 400notes you get lcd pager remote, remote engine start, immobiliser, anti hijack and loads more. I`m half tempted to spray my fd black, fit a huge hemi v8 and roam the streets of peterborough takin out the trash vigilante style! Complete with snooker ball filled socks!:spank:spank

Ive gut looked on ebay at alarms theres a  cliford dealer on there that sells those pager ones for £200 fitted and loads more for very good prices

My advice would be to speak to you Insurer and see what they recommend - TBH you can\'t beat having everything going:

Stop lock
Gear lock
Immobilliser
Alarm
Tracker

And I always found removing the a few cruicial relays and fuses was a good measure too ;)

Hmmm

Personally, I\'ve just had a new alarm fitted (insurers insisted) - and when I did, the chappy advised me not to bother with the LCD remote (by going for the next cheapest alarm in the range, which had all the other features).  The LCD doesn\'t really add much, and apparently can drain the fob batteries in just a month or two - so you end up going through loads of batteries, or finding you can\'t get into the car...

And for additional anti-theft, 35 quid got me a snap-off hub for the steering wheel... given I take a bag everywhere when driving (to put the sat-nav, glasses, stereo facia, etc in), adding the steering wheel is no bother :D

If you have a gander in the electrical / ICE forum, you\'ll find a few threads on alarms etc

Fleabay - it\'s a D1Spec jobbie - very nicely made - feels very solid, and has a nice positive feel for the engage / disengage.  It also has a built-in failsafe, to prevent accidental removal while driving (a number of others I looked didn\'t appear to have this - they just relied on pushing the wheel in and turning it - seemed like a recipe for disaster to me)

As said befor the lcd screen ones do drain the battery fairly quick i have a viper cat one alarm and imobiliser sure it was only £200. keeps the insurance company happy and the car imobilised.
I would recomend you find one with tilt sensors though as the trend to steal a car is to nick a lowloader and just drive around untill they find what the want and just pick it up!take it somewhere quite and then break in and disable the siren-by just chucking in a bucket of water, would also have an internal siren inside up behind the dash where it would take longer than 30 seconds to rip out,as you wont wanna spend to much time in a car with one of those buggers going.
Hope that helps rob

i quite like the 2 way pagers.. it tells u if ur alarm goes off or if some1 smashes the window or opens door, or tries to start the car etc..

i find taking the wheel off a gd suggestion (though nt fitted my quick release yet as keep thinhking it will bring the wheel too close to the driver.

the 2nd alarm in dash is also gd idea

thers only so much u can do.. if they really want to nick ur car then they have other ways or accessing ur car (jumpig u at lights etc) to get ur car plus keys.

maybe fit a tracking device in, though not too sure how easy it is to rip that out...
