Hello all,

I was driving home from work today, and heard a very bad noise, kinda scraping, then all was quiet after a min or so. Got the FD home and lifted the bonnet to find the belt that goes around the power steering pump had come right off. Not only that but the pulley at the top seems very very loose, i dont know if this is normal :S

a short video of the problem, if anyone can help me with how to fix the problem id be very very gratefull. And if anyone local has a spare belt to ;)

i should mention that the nut in the middle will not tighten and just spins on the axis sepparate from the pulley, dont know how obvious that is in the vid :)

Cheers,

Michael

From my experience in many different jap cars, i\'ve never come across a pulley that sits that slack!!!!! :2Confused

In my opinion i would source another unit and new belt, plenty of breakers for RX7 FD3S parts on ebay :)

the pulley has come off the centre "hub", all you need to do is undo the nut and replace the pulley. you may need an air gun to undo the nut though. the pump will be fine.
There are performance cars and then there is the RX-7...........

12.3 second 1/4 mile, terminal speed of 122mph (1st ever drag run on a TO4R)

engine built by....... umm me! now powered by a T51 Kai......

Im after a pulley too!  I did put a wanted post up but no one seems to have any at the moment.  Im going to have to speak to Mr Mazda tomorrow and see if I can get one there.  If I remember to call then i\'ll shout up what they are asking for, hope its a nice surprise!  (will be ordering on my UK vin, surprises me sometimes the different prices for the same part! lol)
