Genius! Literally genius.. :god

Coming to an MRC near you - \'MAV-(re)branded \'custom\' engine dampers\'..

Out of interest - have you replaced the engine/transmission mounts?  If not they are probably near faliure point and would make a big difference. :wave

Would cut down on the amount of movement caused by torque etc.

When you rev the engine the inertia of the internals tries to spin the engine in situ. IE the engine tries to turn rather than the car. You can feel it when the car is stationary in neutral and you jump quickly on and off full throttle.

The engine mounts usually take the brunt of the aggression, obviously as a car becomes more powerful the sensation becomes more severe and it knackers the engine mounts and more seriously unsettles the cars weight as you try to exit corners or try to launch hard.

The two methods that can be used are solid engine mounts, which work fine but you feel strange harmonic vibrations through the car. The other is to use a engine damper to take the vast majority of the stress away from the mounts. Leading to a straighter launch and a more predictable car at corner exit.

I\'ve never had a damper but have heard good things about them, I\'ve had solid engine mounts though and they were great but it was very raw (just the way I like it :) )

nice nice thanks
do they make them for the fc or can you mod an fd one to fit?

though prob best to change the mounts 1st as mentioned above

Let me check on the first one this evening for you see if we\'ve got anything.

If it\'s really moving about then replace the stock mounts with some fresh stock ones and then get the damper. You should be able to check them for splits etc.

It will take the shock but won\'t hold the engines weight alone if the mounts colapse, been there trust me the engine was only just in the car, was so close to dumping the sump on the subframe.

The mountain bike shock works well, had one on for a few years. I also used uprated Racing beat engine mounts, still rubber but much stiffer, that together with new gearbox mounts and uprated diff mounts, made a huge difference.
400 BHP - 650 KG\'s = 616 BHP Per Ton of Rotary Power

That\'s the way to do it! :Thumbsup!

I had a shock on the FD and kept getting the engine knock warning as it made it a bit too harsh.  Would defo get another but would get something other than just a friction shock to get rid of vibration.  I\'ll just fabricate my own having looked at how simple they are.
