Hey all,

Last night, I though in a quiet moment that I\'ll take my Power FC commander apart and start the process of fitting it into a din blanking plate, great.

But then saw how the 2 boards were soldered together, nice. And realised my gammy soldering skills were not up to this kind of job... It\'s not like the guys who resolder PSP batteries and the like but still way out of my league for something I could fudge very easily!

So... HELP! I\'m willing to pay some beer tokens of someone would be kind enough to unsolder the 2 boards of my commander and resolder some longer wires so I can mount them up.

please!!!

TIA!
Mark

if you do it yourself, use a very fine tip on the soldering iron and a "solder-sucker" to remove the solder one at a time, be careful not to heat up the board itself, might need a heatsink block. Sometimes if you cut the old ribbon cable short close to the board, the remains of the wire gets sucked up at the same time and saves time. resoldering - just be careful!! if you do it slowly should be ok.

Cheers Ash, but think I\'ll be wise to take this to someone as your description just helps to put me off!

Good suggestion Grinder, I think I\'ll have a phone around and see what they say :)

Hi RemarkLima
Do you have a plate for this conversion already to fit into the din if so  any chance you can copy it? or please send me a stencil of it on paper so i can make 1.

I want to put mine into the heater panel and move the heater controls to the center console.

heres a few pics of things ive seen done in the past.
