heya,

i`m soon to be fitting Greddy elbow with the flange for the BOV.

Just wondering what I need to do to fit this, can I just bolt it straight on and put the vacuum hose to the spare "nipple" on the UIM? Or do I need to do something with the standard BOV?

I dunno if it matters if you leave the standard recirc/dump valve thing in place. In theory, I guess there\'s no reason why you couldn\'t leave it to work in tandem with your new one. I used that take-off from the Y-pipe to vent my Blitz valve from, though, cos I thought the idea was to mount the dump valve as near to the turbos as poss?

As to the vacc hose connection, I guess you could T-off from the existing hose, or use the spare nipple on the UIM, as in the pic. I\'ve used one for the boost gauge, and one for the dump valve on mine, but again, I guess no reason why you couldn\'t share one line?

Wasn\'t being unhelpful by not answering, just didn\'t want want to say "yeah, this is what you do..." when I didnt know the full answer. Like I said, I dunno any reason why you shouldn\'t leave the stock DV in place, but now I\'ve said that, someone\'ll come a long and :flamedme! I DO know that using that nipple will work, at least! well im using the greddy elbow with the flange, I guess what your saying about putting the BOV near to the turbo makes sense...although, why would Greddy make the elbow with the flange if it was a suitable position? hmm

im using the spare UIM nipple for the BOV :).

thanks for the reply mate :D

Fitted the BOV and all seems ok.

Only thing is, its not very loud.

Does anybody else have a Greddy Type RS BOV? Will it get louder as its used more? Also the adjustable bolt on the top, if I tighten or loosen it....which will make it louder?

if you loosen the bolt it makes the spring weaker so theres less resistance for the boost pressure to open the BOV, so pretty much a matter of loosening it so it opens when you let off the throttle but doesnt leak under full boost. my blitz dump valve was really quiet till i fiddled around with it, now its really loud :)

trevtubby

ah ok, I read somewhere else that its louder the tighter you have it, as it sets the spring tighter thus needing more boost for it to "blow off", then when it does its louder?

how will I know if its leaking under full boost? if I start making it looser.

problem is if you set it too tight it wont open at all which will result in compressor surge! how much boost are you running?

if you have a boost guage, when your coming upto full boost watch the guage for any abnormal drops in pressure - that will be a leak, you\'ll probably be able to hear a leak from the dump valve anyway :)

I still have the original dump valves working though, so I shouldnt get compressor surge no matter how tight I have the spring?

you I have a boost controller which shows the boost and the Apexi PFC. Running 0.94 bar peak boost on the High setting.

I may try having a play later and see what happens when I loosen it off. :)

well i had both the standard bovs on when i first fitted mine, when i removed them it made it 100X louder! as all the boost is exiting via the after market dump valve, might be worth removing them and bunging the pipes?

trevtubby

how hard is it to remove them mate?

what do you need to do?

all i did was removed them both, bung the pipes to the back of the air box/air filters

bung the vac pipes going into the back of the the standard dump valves with 10mm nuts and secure them in with cable ties

bung the pipes that the bovs were plumbed into

takes all of 10 mins!

ive got pics of mine if you need more help:Thumbs-up

trevtubby

pics is always good lol

thanks.
