Looking very good there mate!  I\'d been considering doing something similar but wasn\'t sure how it would turn out.  Looks like you beat me to it, but you\'ve certainly proved you can get good results!!

Keep up the good work

Ada7

So go on then, tell the class how you did it :D

1. apply the resin to the part I/you am going to cover

2. gently push the (cut to shape before hand) carbon cloth into all area\'s getting it to sit as flat as possible.

3. tape the loose ends of the cloth to the back of the object (keeping the cloth tight on the edges of the object)

4. apply a small amount of resin over the carbon cloth (also going just over the edges, making it easier to cut once dry) leave to dry, and do this 3-4 times

5. once dry, cut the cloth as close to the end as I/you can with a very sharp blade to get the same sort of shape as the object (roughly)

6. get the dermal out with a 240grit sanding attachment (big/medium/small wheel) and sand down as close to the plastic as you want to go!

7. one happy with the cut out shapes, flatten the resin with a 240 grit paper with water (once over) then go over again (a few times) with 1200 grit paper and with water again. Make sure you go over the ends to round the edge of the carbon into the plastic so it dose not look as stuck on. Then give it a clean.

8. apply a good coat of clear coat, allow to dry and flatten with 1500 grip paper with water. Then do this again 3-4 times until its a smooth as a babies backside! then give it a polish!

You make it sound so easy :D
Where did you get all the stuff from? and what are the 2 smaller bits you\'ve done there?

impressive stuff! i was thinking of getting these bits flocked with heaters and gear surround but this looks good!!

How difficult is make the carbon follows the shapes of the panels?
How do you ensure the carbon adhears to the plasic?
Is it easy to cut?

cheers

ENVYD

How difficult is make the carbon follows the shapes of the panels?

Its not really that hard (as of now) as the weave of the carbon opens when you come to a bend, making it able to stretch more, unlike fabric.

How do you ensure the carbon adheres to the plastic?

the resin is very very sticky, even before any time of catalyst is added. Also i for got to add to key the plastic first with 240 grit paper.

Is it easy to cut?

yeah it is, spesh if you use a dremel!

hope thats helps :D

These guys are fantastic, always very helpful, and you can get everything you need from them....carbon, resin, adhesives, etc etc.

If you are litterally just covering stuff, you will be amazed at how cheap it is to buy the material\'s.
