You can turbo or supercharge the RX8 engine but it will also depend on which model you have 4 or 6 port engine. As I had bought one to turbo charge and put in my RX7, although it would also have had a major amount of work done to it internally. But yes anything is poss if you want to through enough money at it.

Welcome to Mazdarotaryclub.com from all the Team,

The rumors are still sadly not able to be confermed, l have even heard rumbles of a hydraulic Supercharger.

Interestingly Mazda at the Tokyo MotorShow they put on Show the Renisis Hydrogen RE engine which features a Mazda hybrid Turbo that is coupled to an inverter via a 144Volt battery to help the Turbo spool up at 1,000 RPM then the Turbo works in a conventional manner,

They have been testing this set up in an RX-8.
All the best Clive

I\'ve spoken to one of the SSR guys casually since he is a mamber of one of the US forums, and the suggestion was that the kit would be available in a few weeks, at an estimated cost of ~$6800

IIRC one of my Option mags at home has a comparison of forced induction RX-8s. I\'ll dig it out.

Hmmm, with the turbo; peak power at 7800rpm is 190kW, which is about 255bhp (190 x 1.3410), a nice improvement :)

Wish I could read Japanese :(

edit : just read under the graph 265ps, about 261bhp :)
