Hey guys,

Can anyone point me in the direction of a guide to wiring in an air/fuel ratio gauge please? I\'ve searched but the results for "air fuel ratio" were pretty inconclusive as far as the wiring goes!

And help much appreciated. Thank you!

It depends upon the kit. Which kit is it?

SiH

Is it one that runs off the stock lambda? If so I\'d wire it in the bin tbh, pretty much chocolate fireguard levels of usefulness :(

If wideband it should probably have instructions, or they will be downloadable from the manufacturer. I know that hte VEMS one is at least :)

grinder

if its a narrow band - i just tapped mine into the wire that fed the ECU

you just need a ECU pin out to work out what wire

if its for a FC i can tell you - FD no chance !! LOL ( im sure the ecu pin out is in the FSM though )

I kinda assumed it was a wideband, because as SiH said stock lambda info is generally pointless. All it will say is whether you are lean or rich to 14.7afr - not by how much away it is. Therefore, very little use.

Hmm... Well, firstly, thanks for the replies.
To give you more info, the gauge is off of my old Fiat Coupe which (unfortunately, by the sounds of things!) ran straight from the lambda sensor output. Am i to understand that these are pretty useless then?? :(

Well, i\'m knocking up a couple of gauge holders at the minute so seeing as i have this one i might as well fit it! :2Rolleyes

Does anyone know how i\'d go about getting it wired in? It\'s pretty much just the one wire (which i previously wired to the lambda sensor output), earth and one for the lights.

And just to encourage you all, i\'ll jump in and show my expert level of knowledge by saying that you don\'t need to worry about explaining the earth and lights wires! I can probably handle those by myself!! :Thumbs-up :D

Thanks again.

Just cut some of the insulation off the wire from the Lambda sensor and solder this on, thats what i did cos i dont like cutting and joining stockwiring, then heat shrink some tape over it.

Although as other replies it is pretty useless as the ECU only reads from the sensor on light loads and the sensor is bypassed on heavy use (open loop due to sensor operating times) after which fuel is despensed based on temperature, boost, rpm and throttle opening etc therefore pretty useless to be honest as stated above. But it looks nice jumping all over the place in the dark lol :D

A good point, well made, SmbFD3S :Thumbs-up

So any pointers as to where to find this "wire?"

look in at the exhaust - there will be a a bung in it ( the 02 sensor ) - just tap into that

i just a skotch (sp) when doing mine
