Just a little advice please guys yesterday while driving home got a clunking coming from one of the rear wheels only noticable while turning softly to the left .

After driving it a couple of short journeys today it only seem to come in after 10 mins or so of driving.

My first thort was wheel bearing or driveshaft neither of which seem to have and excesive play.

I then decided to check oil in dif by dumping it out as it was due a change anyway. Stuck to the drain plug was a tooth of one of the gears

Im presuming this is prob my problem or the tooth has broken off due to a bearing gone or somin. Any idea guys

How much am i lookin at for a second hand dif

Aceman

To give you an idea of price, mine was £240ish replaced all in (supply replacement 2nd hand with short warrantee and labour to fit)..

danny_m94

ill fit myself thats not a problem just want to some confirmation that it could be the prob really before i go ahead and do it

Aceman

Ah, now that requires potentially some techincal knowledge to be able to answer it..

My car skills are limited to blowing them up or crashing them..  :D

I\'d say though, that if teeth are missing off your diff\'s cogs, then it needs replacing whether it\'s the exact cause of the "clonking" issue or not...

yehp doesnt look good does it.
any1 know if tyhe dif cover comes off with the dif on the car there a buldge in it that looks like it could make it tricky

Jit

yes the diff cover comes off with the diff. when you undo the top diff mounts tho, the diff does slide a touch forwards towards the font of the car which shud give you the clearance

cool looks like an evning in the workshop for me better get some beers.
