Naughty colin

just fitted a hks down pipe and decat and now the heat light is on all the time and the car is running badly.very rich.
what do i do with the sensor from the cat and is it best to leave the air pump electrics connected.
have a night sport ecu.
rotorstock in 2 weeks, someone please help me out with advice.

g11ary

most leave the air pump on.
Be careful modding with an Knightsport ECU
it is not programable, its made to be used with particular mods
changing your setup will upset your ecu and running. By making your car less restrictive it could be running leaner or become prone to boost spikes etc.

Naughty colin

cheers but whys the heat light on all the time and what do i do to rectify it

trotter

If the heat light is on all the time it\'s \'cos it knows it should be attached to the cat but it cant find one there!! What peeps normally do is re-wire (i think) the sensor that will be hanging under the car (where the cat was) to close the circuit. This will let the sensor think everything is OK.

If you do da search for heat sensor on here you\'ll find out what I mean!
Work hard, play hard house :D

running decat on reprogramable standard ecu is a big no no. As gary said using decat without the correct fuelling now may put the engine at risk. Persionally keep decat off the car until you have a programable fuel computer ie Apexi FC etc

My first FD i did the same as you then a month later i blew my engine up running a decat on Knightsport ecu. It was programmed for big fuel changes like decat

K1HKS arse

put the cat back in mate, need programmable ecu or additional fuel computer to run decat safely.

Naughty colin

Holly crap that don\'t sound good.
Have looped cat sensor out now because it broke.
Will refit cat and save up for ecu.
Thanks chaps.
See you in my mirror on the strip.
Only joking.
You will spot me at rotorstock i\'ll be the one in the AA recovery van crying.

I\'m interested in getting an A/F gauge up my bum, of the car as i\'ve been running a Knightsports ecu over the last year on a daily basis with a de-cat and other flow modifications i\'ve not gone kaboom yet *SCRABBLES AROUND TO FIND SOME WOOD TO TOUCH*
I woof in your general direction.

BlitzBoy

I think having a gauge up ya bum might be a bit uncomfortable, vasaline is your friend :rollin

I was told when I went up to WGT that running a knightsports ECU over here is a lottery, it could go bang or could run fine.
I had mine on for 2 months after I bought the car and it ran fine and the guy I bought it off had it for about 6-8 months with no problems but that was with hks filters, hardpipes and a racingbeat back box only.
Now running an apexi with the same mods but a decat and she runs much better.  Currently getting just over 300bhp at the fly.

leon

Yeah I\'m tempted to get a powerFC just for the fuel saving alone. As if I toodle at 60mph I get around 300miles to a tank! (aparently thats a tad on the rich side)  Thats me with after market exhaust (unbranded jasma) De-cat and HKS filters/hard pipes.

Yes vasaline  is my friend ;) I prefer Mr 98 RON though

I have removed the nightsport ecu and replaced it with the standard one as well as refitting the cat and the motor is a lot better.
To be honest i think the decat was the main problem so i will refit the nightsport ecu because the car was fine with it on anyway.Still going to save up for a apexi ecu to be on the safe side.
Thank for the tips everyone.
Leon fitting a gauge up your bum is silly how you going to read it and is it brown proof

I don\'t know not a good idea i mean the cars, but it could be used to check the Ratio of my farts?:Giggle
