Well just had the most cliff hanging drives back from the docks ever.

Just been to pick up another FD and I dont know what frickin clutch it has in it but the biting point is about 3mm from the floor.  Plus battery is goosed on it so if id of stalled i\'d of been fricked as battery pack didnt have enough juice left to start.  To top it all off was sat in the worst traffic ever getting out of bootle and litherland and my ankle felt like it was going to snap after half an hour.....  So glad once I got on the M58.

On the plus side the car is an absolute beast and wheel spun in 4th on motorway.  Chatter from the KKK is awesome! :burnout

Water temp remained constant at 82 degrees, rose to 89 in traffic and fans kicked in and brought it down to 83.  Oil pressure, fuel pressure, oil temp, etc all remained spot on.  (the blitz gauges are actually quite nice).  Got a frickin pivot head light adjuster which I need to figure out how to work as the car looks like it\'s been smoking some major crack. :Laugh

Needs a damn good service, new brake pads, and the bodywork needs some G3 magic..... but overall im actually quite happy.... for once.  Think I may keep this for myself. :D

if the biting point is that low, do the normal stuff eg, bleed the clutch system with new fluid and adjust the rod from the pedal to the clutch master cylinder, worse case scenario you might need to change the clusth master or slave cylinder as seals do perish

This thread is worthless without pics !!!!!

Kevin

Yeah thought about that, funnny enough i\'ve just done the same on my other FD the other week, clutch hose and slave cylinder needed replacing.

Will run the machine and G3 over it then take some pictures.  One of my skirts has taken a battering getting it off the ship, so will have to do some fiberglassing. :(

karl_tate

whats the spec then??

we need pics lol you must have some :D

wheels spun in 4th hmmm

Will take some soon, main points from spec translated from japan is:

Overhauled side ported motor by knightsports (currently on 12,000 kilometers)
Blitz KKK series turbo w/ HKS airfilter
Blitz external wastegate with screamer pipe / Blitz downpipe
Greddy Intercooler
Uprated sard injectors / Sard fuel pump
Apexi PowerFC / Blitz boost controller.

Claimed power output in Japan 530ps.

Obviously would have to get it mapped and dyno\'d over here to see actual power output.

............and yes accelerated moderately in 3rd changed to 4th and it spun.

Having the Klu Klux Klan in the back going on and on can be very annoying. Anyway get some pics up soon.

Perhaps an upgrade to C18 could be on the cards? :Giggle

I think the clutch engagment has alot to do with wheel spin. Sounds like & a nice FD.

Do you guys like that turbo chatter? I dont mind it but I set my car up with 2 50mm Tial units to eliminate that chatter. Have fun with your new car.

If you are going to drive it in traffic often, try an Exedy Carbon twin plate D core...holds up to 800hp & works like a stock clutch. When it gets hot it grips more. I use this unit on my FD as I drive it to work every day.

Enjoy!

Kevin

Cheers Dr-Rotor.  I dont mind the clutch as the car is going to be just a track car and will probably only see road when it\'s being loaded onto the trailor.  Driving back from the docs was a one off with it......... If i\'d of known what the traffic was going to be like though i\'d of waited for my trailor to get back first. lol.

Have you got an email address Dr-Rotor?, I was going to have a chat about your setup for the track.

On the subject of turbo chatter.... personally I love the sound but im just a little concerned as to turbo stall as the car currently has no blow off valve.  Dont want to cause any shaft/blade damage to the turbo.  Any body got any views on this?

BlitzBoy

views on Turbo surge the need for bov etc etc do a search on here there have been two large heated debates on the subject, generally on twins and small shafted turbos have a bov, on medium to big single my view dont bother, but have a look on the big thread on this to make up your mind

Im sort of in agreement with you as I had run no bov on an mr2 turbo for a while and ended up damaging the shaft, however that was a ceramic turbo.

I think i\'ll leave the setup how it is until I can get it to pip\'s to be mapped and just take it from there.

Dr-Rotor

My email is bmlove777@hotmail.com

Id be happy to chat about track stuff.

On the BOV side of things this is my view. Yes the turbos may be big & strong & can take a beating but there will always be wear & tear. I prefer the turbo to work without the stress of back pressure when you lift off the gas.

As I have learnt if you treat your stuff with respect it last longer & gives you the satisfaction you require. I had 2 BOVs T\'d into 1 line to the plenum....it dose not work well enough. I plumbed each BOV to its own vacum line point on the plenum. Now all I hear is a sharp very quick dump of air & no stress on my turbo.

Have a listen on this short clip of the car....http://youtube.com/watch?v=sM9qNeGrWgo

Dirty filter element needs replacing, and engine bay is still dirty from the ride over here.  But here\'s a shot of the turbo.  (Before anyone asks the pipe work isnt held together with heat wrap and cable ties, there is a silicon hose and clamps underneath it.)

Again dirty and need\'s a little work but you get the idea.
