QuoteNice one, love having my rx7 so low
Twin40, How low have you got it? what measurement do you have from the ground up to bottom of front lip splitter/spoiler, mine is 5 inches. cant run much lower as front wheels hit the arches, but will clear most speed humps!

Just got back from Wheels in motion today, big respect to Tony, the guy obviously knows his stuff and is very proffesional about his work...my 7 handles like it should do now!! Well worth the money imo...

Oh and there was a 650bhp Lexus IS200 drift car ouside aswell ;)

i\'ll post pics up in a bit...

Yeah my rx is about 5 inches from the ground too!!..

Can anyone reccomend someone who knows what he/she is doing with the RX with regards to alignment up north? Should i have asked Pip whilst i was there at the weekend?

Pip do 4 wheel alignment for £100 I think...might as well get it done there if you having work done anyway.

Well i got my Alignment done at last, £47 altogether! 2 men working on the car for 90 minutes! tough nuts! thought that was good! Anyone care to comment on these settings please, the car seems very planted and stable/balanced, Well pleased, This was done by Christchurch Tyres in Dorset

Not sure what that means.....you mean you wanted it good on long tracks? How\'s that different to a short track? Surely the length of the corners is more relevant than the overall length? Sorry if i am being dim. Maybe you mean stable in sweeping corners?

Anyway, i had mine set-up at Wheels in Motion a while back. Mine is set-up for neutral at the limit, to mild understeer. Safer that way.

1. You can go into a corner flat chat, take feet off the pedals and turn; it will either understeer or turn, depending on whether you are carrying too much speed or not. If it understeers it will do so until it grips and turns. No oversteer, no nasty surprises. Difficult to test on the road without a big, empty roundabout you know well that you can basically go into too fast.

2. You can push the front or tighten your line with the throttle, depending on how much right foot you give it, and how fast you push the pedal down. Impossible to test on the road, or you really shouldn\'t be trying to!

I run 2deg camber at the rear, 1.3 at the front.
6 deg caster
virtually no toe front or rear (0.01 front, 0.02 rear - so the same really)

it seems to work fine - shortly after this i won my class at Lydden while sprinting and have a trophy :)

I have heard of running more camber at the front and tried it but i don\'t like it; it makes the initial turn-in quicker but its a lie; you have to adjust the steering again right afterwards as it turns in too fast and needs immediate input to re-adjust. It also makes the car tramline-y and nervous on anything other than a billiard table surface.

p.s. you know that as soon as you change ride height or sussies you need it done again?

Thats a lot of toe on the front. All it means is you\'ll shag your tyres real fast. All the people i spoke to said run virtually no toe whatsoever.

Opinions differed on the camber settings. Initially i ran 2 at the front and hated it, with 1 at the rear.

Bear in mind standard set-up is 1deg camber all round (i believe). You don\'t seem to be running much at all. My gut feeling is that they\'ve used toe to make it turn in (at the expense of tyre wear), whereas more camber would have been the way to go.

Disclaimer: i\'m no beginner at this but i am happier with bikes...check what i have said with Tony @ Wheels in Motion. He really is a wizard.

Yes, i had mine corner-weighted first by Re:Worx (who fitted the new Tein Mono Flex, the reason for the changes) before i went to WiM.

Tony @ WiM did not have the corner-weighting kit at the time, he was getting it at \'the end of next month\' (these things are not cheap...).

If he has the kit now i would go to him for the whole lot. In fact i may go back and tweak ride height (lower, how it used to be), knowing that i can ask him to drop it by an inch all round and then corner-weight and geo it again afterwards.

My ride-height was set by Re:Worx at what Tein said it should be for these coilovers....its about 2 inches higher than it was before and we couldn\'t dial in any more caster (I wanted 6.5, no 6) as it was at the end of its adjustment. Changing ride height will bring that scake down a bit and allow me to tweak caster up a little.

(though to be fair, before it was too low to get a jack underneath, even with a special low-level jack, and i had to scissor-jack it up a little to get the trolley under.....and it was a pain with my driveway and speed bumps....its nice now...just doesn\'t look as good! maybe somewhere in between.... ;)

mine is set nearly as low as possible but having driven it for a couple of weeks ive had no problems with rubbing etc so going to get it weighted close to that ride height

ps i have a FB :Thumbs-up

this has turned into quite an interesting thread :)

whats this about corner weights? i know its pretty odvious what they do, where can you get them from? i take it they must make a big difference to weight distribution and handling

Papercup

They aren\'t actual weights, it means raising and lowering ride heights on the individual coilovers to make the car sit dead flat. Then you set the geometry on the car up afterwards.

You can go one further, I did. I know that when i race and generally when i trackday i am alone so i had my car corner-weighted with only one seat fitted, and me in the car. Well, that guy at Re:Worx who is built like me ;)
