Just a quick question, i need to replace my rear tyres and i want to know if i can fit 255/40/17 on the following rims 17X9.0JJ with an offset of +40. At the moment i have 245 on there and they look a little stretched. Just dont want to pay for tyres that are going to rub. The car is also lowered.

Thanks
There are performance cars and then there is the RX-7...........

12.3 second 1/4 mile, terminal speed of 122mph (1st ever drag run on a TO4R)

engine built by....... umm me! now powered by a T51 Kai......

does anyone know the answer to this?

I have 265/40s on the rear on 17 inch rims with a similar offset (I can\'t definitely remember what it is, I think it\'s 40). They don\'t rub, but my cars on coilovers so ride height isn\'t standard either, but obviously I can\'t say if it\'s lower than yours or not!

id feel a right twit if they fitted the tyres and they rubbed! they wont even try one first, as soon as its ordered in its bought.... need to be 100% sure they will be ok

i really cannot see these rubbing. sparrows got 19x10.5  40et with 275 rears no rubbing so these should be fine
if i had 8 hour to cut down a tree. i`d spend 6 sharpening the axe

Hmmm - ask if they have any old/knackered tyres around in the size you\'re looking for, and use those for a test fit ;)

If they don\'t, or they won\'t, go somewhere else :D

You\'ll be fine dude :)

You have exactly the same set-up as me. Mine doesn\'t rub, even under hard track use. Damn close to the arch at the rear though, you couldn\'t get a fag paper up the side of the wheel. My arches are not rolled. So my experience says you\'ll be fine.

cheers
