Wotcha folks

I\'m trying to remove my Momo race steering wheel, so that i can fit a quick-release catch (it turned out to be about the same price as a spacer :D)

Only problem is - I can\'t find an allen key to fit the bolts on the momo wheel!

So far, i have tried:
3mm - way too small
7/32" - slightly too small
1/8" - slightly too big
4mm - way too big

I\'m guessing I need a 3.5mm - but I can\'t find anyone that sells one :(  Anyone got any suggestions?

i just went to maplins and bought big set of drill bits for 19.99 and the one you need was there:] dont know what size it was...just go halfords and get the guy to go with you and have a look..

They\'re 3mm normaly, you sure you haven\'t rounded them off it is very easy to do. They also still look hex shaped once rounded.

shame be to say, but the one that came with some ikea furniture fits nicely! no idea on size though.

That\'d be my thinking too - they round off very easily - sure mine are 3 mm. Although 3.5 isn\'t an uncommon size - you often get it in allen key sets.

If they are rounded, get a cheap torqx bit from a multi socket set (the ones that are a few quid and come with a mini ratchet) that\'s slightly larger than the right size, and hammer it into the head :)

Had to use two torx bits in the end (the bolts were so tight,  both bits finish looking more like corkscrews) - but I got the bolts off, and the quick-release hub on!

So much easier getting in and out now ;)

Oh - and they definitely weren\'t 3mm - the 3mm key span without touching the sides.  the 7/64 was a tight fit - but not quite tight enough (still had a touch of wiggle, and it ended up rounding off the bolt I tested on.

Perhaps these were a specific size to stop any theif with a normal set of allen keys just nicking it lol
