I have to ask - did you make the led rings, or did you find them on the \'net somewhere?

I\'ve just spent an hour or so searching google + ebay (UK + US) - closest I could find was some Corvette C5 rear LED halo lights - but they cost about $300, and you only get 4 lights

Alternatively, I found some Hella individual halo\'s - at 70 quid a pair (so 210 for the set) - and that doesn\'t include the lamps for the centers....

i do like the afterburners... awesome :D

how much are u gonna charge per set :P :D

maz13b

Its still being developed. Drop me an email to a.tserenia@gmail.com and I\'ll be happy to discuss it with you.

LogicalChimp, sorry not ready to share the secrets of where I\'ve got the LEDs from at this stage :) but drop me an email and I\'ll give you some guidence etc.

I\'ve also hit the brick wall with the project getting right resisters for the indicators. Everything else works fine and lights will be ready to go in to production while the problem is sorted.

The asking price shouldnt be more than £250 per set.

So are these modelled of 96 spec lights as a base or 92 spec?

maz13b

Those are 99 spec lights but if you\'ve got older version rear light I\'ll be more than  happy giving it a go and design something diferent for older version.

Actualy I might buy 92 spec lights and experement if anyone got one for sale or want to send me theirs.

logicalchimp have a look on ebay for led\'s here\'s a guy i\'ve used befor excellent service everytime, http://myworld.ebay.co.uk/amigoofchina/ if that not working just goto ebay and type in amigoofchina,

An idea anyone may consider is to use clear plastic/acrilic drill out rows of holes in the shape you want and mount the led\'s in that, behind the standard colour lens, glued in aprox 4-5mm behind and the lens-this way you will only see the led\'s lit and all will apear normal when off.
If your not feeling so adventurous about making your own clusters, then maplin do cluster led\'s that you simply conect to a + and - and mount into the light, here http://www.maplin.co.uk/search.aspx?MenuNo=12411&FromMenu=y&doy=6m7

Arg :( I was gonna do this to my FC hmm oh well, fab job there :D

Eddie

Maz13B nice job they look good.

Rob I used those cluster leds, they work a treat, but if anyones going to use them go to knightbright direct for them they cost half of what they do from maplins.

heres a pic of what i did with the LED clusters.

I used angel eye rings with these clusters, also added a fog cluster

its worth having a try yourself if your handy with a heat gun and a dremmel, you can then be exclusive

I\'ll be doing the same on the FC in next 7 days. Will keep you posted.

Thanks Eddie, thanks for giving me the idea on how to make them.

Cheers

Maz :)

Maz13B you have taken it to the next level they look really good, I\'m no expert with a solder gun so have to make do with what i can cobble together, i may pick your brain at some point.

Actually talking about picking you brain how about the blink rate of the indicators, how did you combat the increased rate due to lack of resistance in the circuit, I was considering hiding a bulb in the boot to add resistance, I know its a bit of a cheat but as I said no good with electronics.

Looking at yours a may revisit mine and try something a little more bling:) its been 3 years now since i made mine and its nice to see people making stuff it gets the old creative juices going.

Jobs a good one keep the pics coming.

Hi Eddie I always wondered about the maplins lights for their brightness (they even once had a Q/A part on them saying they were not bright enough for road use) But hey no MOT problems at all? :) and who are Knightbright? did a quick google but found no urls :rollin
I woof in your general direction.

Eddie

Hi mate they are bloody bright, never had a comment from an MOT person about them not being bright enough. if anything maybe a little too bright, you can see them glowing up the car behind when you press the stop peddle.

cheers

Eddie, regarding your flash rate problem, a lot of the firms selling LED bulbs on eBay and the like also sell resistors that you splice into the circuit to basically make the load the same so that the flash is slowed down to the correct rate http://cgi.ebay.co.uk/Car-Indicator-Rear-Stop-LED-Light-50W-LOAD-RESISTOR-Kit_W0QQitemZ360067233306QQihZ023QQcategoryZ9895QQtcZphotoQQcmdZViewItemQQ_trksidZp1742.m153.l1262
(like these). I\'ve had LED replacement indicators on bikes before, and they usually come with a little in-line resistor that you can plug in or not depending on whether it\'s necessary. Also in the bike world, so I dunno if the equivalent is available for cars, is a replacement flasher module, usually only a few quid. These just work on a lower resistance than the stock one, so again evens up the flash rate. A few options there for you to investigate, maybe, hth
