Well I\'ve rung up the insurance about my single turbo and now they want an Engineers report on the work carried out. I\'ve explained a mediation to the issue and they have quoted me a cost and said they will cover the car but they still want an engineers report.

Since I\'m a time served Engineer you I expect them to actually expect me to work to a good standard.

I asked what information was required but they couldn\'t properly tell me and just said that they need an engineers report from a garage. I\'ve rung WGT about it and will try and solve it that way. After all it was checked over and tuned by pip.

Has anybody else had to jump through this hoop ?

This happens all the time, i work with insurance companies/Insurance Engineers (just a tittle and usaly Know F.A about anything other than saving money for there Bosses) one of the guys who come to Inspect cars etc has a mk2 Cortina which he has rebuilt to a very high standard, he insures it through the company he works for and had to have a report done by an a second party (who did not work for the same people) before they would insure it, Also there was no "well we will cover you until its done" no engineers report no insurance and thats an Employee. But that said there is very few perks anymore :(

Have you come across the Lie detector test thing yet? some one was telling me last week there is a fast track now to getting your claim sorted (think its just if you make a claim) they do some sort of lie detector test to see if you are trying to claim for something fraudulent. You have to love Insurance companies.

I\'m insured with Houghton Insurance and this is the start of the 5th policy I\'ve had with them on the car. They said it was the underwriters that have asked for it.

The fact that my job description on my policy say that I\'m a design engineer and that I\'m a time served engineer goes a long way to getting initial cover.

I can understand that they require it because one single turbo conversion isn\'t like the next and they expect higher quality work from a garage than an individual. Usually if you have owned a car for so long you have much better knowledge of it than the local garage. Especially a FD !

Plus I did say that it ha been checked over and tuned so that goes part way to show that it actually is ok.

I\'ll just have to get an ok off pip and get it in the post with some fresh images.

Its funny really, my 1st gen I converted to LPG and installed a Later spec 13b and yet they didn\'t really bother too much. I offered to email the LPG certificate and they said don\'t worry. Very hard to understand these companies at the best of times.
