Is there a good way of cleaning the engine bay without removing to much?i know to use the pressure washer and not get anything electrical too wet but is there anything that will help get rid of the oil and some alloy oxadision?

I\'ve used the Bike cleaner from halfrauds. Seemed to do a good job with a washing up soft brush and low pressure flushing water.

Ive heard Gunk is good, you could steam clean it, but im not sure how much it would mess up the electricals

I ususlly get a rag with some petrol on it to get the worst off.  You can use things like colour restorer cause those will cut through the grease and oil.  Also used gunk with reasonable success :)

Gunk is kinda the same as parafin but with a nicer smell! Get a five litre can for a few quid, a bag of rags to wipe it on/off with and you\'ll be able to clean your engine bay forever and not run out!

grinder

i use Gizer when i can be bothered - and an old toothbrush :D

Try WD40.

Just mind rubber seals, it\'ll eat them!
Did whole of my engine bay, smells funky too :D

Did you know that WD-40 stands for Water Displacement, the 40th formula design by NASA?

DR SCHNITZEL

i was told wd 40 was really good for rubber?

Noooo, very bad! WD does, indeed muller rubber with prolonged exposure. That\'s why you should never use it to clean suspension sliders and that, even though it seems ideal. It swells the seals up, they tear and then p!ss oil out all over your brakes. Highly undesirable!

Dear Dr Scnitzel,
If I took my engine bay out, I probably wouldnt have much of a car left?  lol
