pretty sure i read of someone in the uk had done 80k on original engine and the car was left pretty much stock all it life.

Not sure whether it was a magazine article or on a website ?

I was under the impression that the rotor tips wear down, giving bad compression so they will only ever have a certain life span which seems to be the 50-60k mark, thats if nothing else gets you, water temp, det etc.

There\'s a lot of rumours about the FD - as an owner you should remember to ignore most of them :D

I went to 69k in my first standard FD before it went pop

AFAIK they tend to last longer in the US as there are more opportunities to open them up..... More reason to relocate!

i bought mine with dead engine got it rebuilt by dragon on about 98,000.Remember though it depends on when it came to the uk and how many km\'s it had on the clock befor being converted to mph.

Mine is a UK and it did 99,700 before it was picked up by Mazda to have a new engine fitted.  This was all before I owned the car but I have the paperwork to back the mileage up and the car was 100% UK standard :)

According to the invoice it was picked up to investigate poor starting so the compression must have been getting low.
