Can you overrev an FD to disaster

I do Autosolos. Most of the time spent in first gear and sideways LOL.
I try to avoid pulling second as getting back into first at high revs is clunky and slow without double de-clutching...and there aint time for that with my two left feet.
So the overrev buzzer is going off frequently.
If I just keep the accelerator down, will a FD stop revving due to the ECU or a fuel cut or somethig, or will it just go bang.

Boingers are often protected from damage by the valve gear limiting them.
Rotarys aint so handicapped.

So whats the answer if I  rev the nuts off it in first continuously?? Nothing or disaster ??

My Fd is a very stock on stock sequential twins

Advice please

No - it\'s the nature of AutoSolo.

If it\'s anything like the FC\'s ECU, then the rev limiter will just stop you over revving, so it should protect the engine - as you say the rotary design will rev and rev without some form of control to reign it in.

When missing gears in the FC sometimes it would rev to the limit buzzer and just bounce off the limiter until taking your foot of the accelerator.

You will just hit the rev limiter at whatever rpm it\'s set to as standard.

There nothing to a autosolo, ...except 50 other blokes and girls trying to be quicker than you.
Cheap motorsport and you can\'t bend the car.
There is one down your way on 3rd August.

Agree, I have marshalled at one of these Autosolo (was called an Autotest when we did it) but it was great fun !!!!!

Plus as you say very competitive !!!! Especially when it boils down to 0.5 or less seconds difference !!!!

arh ok cool! sorry for sounding like a ar53 h013!!!

It is possible to over rev a rotary on a down shift.
Also don\'t keep hitting the rev limiter, stay just below as you get fuel cut.

And you may also get an almighty \'bang\' + flash from the rear - or at least I did the one time I accidentally hit the rev limit in first :D  (turned out the rev counter was jammed at 7k ;) )

An Autosolo is like an Autotest except:...
Its all forwards, no banging it into reverse and no backing into "garages".
The course is a bit more open and less convoluted....unless its been set out by a bloody Autotester to do my head in!!!

This is a real Autotester.

Thanks for the advice guys guys.

I haven\'t wrecked the motor in 2 years of Autosolos. I didn\'t know if that was luck, or engine management systems, or just cos I\'m so bloody slow.
I\'m sure I could be quicker if I could lose 30 years and get 750 Kilos of weight out of the car, but then it would look like a Caterham with a 280HP rotary and traction would be just a distant memory LOL

I know lots of people go to North Weald for a thrash.
Sevenoaks and District Motor club are running an Autosolo there on 27th July. You have to join SDMC or an invited club to get an entry.
