1991 Mazda RX-7 Conv. 8.8 16.7
1991 Mazda RX-7 Infini IV 7.0 14.9

Some Mag figures I picked up for 0-60 and quarter mile for stock 2nd gens
Your quarter mile time seems to be correct for a stock turbo with the heavier conv body, you need to have just over 300bhp to get into 14s

You forgot:

Mark\'s 1989 Mazda RX7 Turbo II  3yrs 1month so far and still not crossed the line! :rollin

GT4088 turbo   Walbro fuel pump   1000cc injectors   custom V-Mount   Blitz Boost Controller (ok so the boost controller is still to fit)

Loud? Hell yes! :D

Quote from: Brett;511573How hard are you launching?

Not hard enough it seems...

I think I dialled in about 3K rpm\'s - and then slipped the clutch in pretty quick from biting - got very little wheel spin, but slow pickup.  Turbo really spools about 4K - but I didn\'t want to rag the clutch just yet.

They seem a bit odd - as the Infini IV had 220 BHP - as opposed to the 200 BHP in the Turbo II - so surely a better 0-60 ?

The convertable figures in the table are probably for the american N/A version - the UK and Jap markets got the Tubby version

I\'m running a little over 300 BHP - but the power curve is towards the top end as is the torque peak - so my power in gear isn\'t over such a long spread. UK Tubby II vert is about 1560 KG\'s - without the spare tyre probably closer to 1500KG, and with my weight added - closer to 1600 again ;)

yep the weight of your car is killing the performance on the strip.
You are launching to low an rpm, try 4.5K load up on the handbrake to stop it rolling as you find the biting point on the line then launch

Quote from: bnaellis;511582I think that\'s a good time.
From what I remember all stock fd\'s I have heard going down the strip ahve run 14 something at the quickest.

I ran a 14.4 last year in my stock FD, I think I could shave a little off that with practise but I don\'t think there is a 13 in it.

Same to you Rob, that\'s a good time, there\'s plenty of people spent thousands on their fd with performance mods and only running 1 second quicker over 1/4 mile.

As Colin Chapman would say weight is everything, John 88GTR holds the current UK record for a modified FC at 11.3 the thing had everything stripped and weighs in around 1100kgs

I don\'t need to upgrade my stock turbo to beat your ass!

Get your finger out, get it on the road and start driving it then!!! (B.Martin 25/2/12)

My best run was against Shaun in his FD this year. A 14.38 @ 100.01 and a 60ft of 2.28. I was hoping for 13\'s this year but it didn\'t happen :( although I am now a member of the 100 mph club so im happy for now :). Next year Shaun I\'ll have you!
