o dear thats not too good mate, hopefully the damage wont be too much, im sure if they are civilised people they would help you sort something out, best to pop round when they are in and be friendly and jsut tell them what happened and you might be able to get something sorted without any agro.  How do you usually get on with those neighbours?

Then he is even more likely to be a well-mannered, upstanding member of society, be reasonable, and deal with this like a responsible adult. I very much doubt you\'d have a problem. Its just one of those things.

Bad luck :(

Yeah - as annoying as it is, keep your cool and get a good resoloution when they come home.  Get some good photos of the damage to show their insurers if needs be.

I had a similar problem about 10 years ago, maybe more, my neighbours roof tiles blew off in a bad storm and landed on my car.  Fortunately we managed to claim off their house insurance.

Unfortunately now I think they no longer cover "acts of god"...?  Maybe worth investigating, but being a canopy it\'s not really house related either.

Hopefully they\'ll be reasonable with you and cover the repair costs.

Very tru kev... but with some insurances, they cover everything within the perimiter of your property, so he should be OK on that one ;)

Best thing you can do is get a quote for putting the damage right, and wit until they get back and ask them if you can come to a solution, being a "copper" he should be very reasonable in the least as a law abiding citizen.

Dont get any work to the car done until they are back and ahve seen the pics and damage.
