On the final straight now. After a long time i have finaly finished all the bits on the car. About 15 mins ago i droped her off for the MOT!!! I feel like an expectant father LOL. Fingers crossed in about 1/2 hour i should get the news.....

Couple of things i am worried about..

1. Sticky front plate???
2. just fitted new pads now peddle feels slightly spongey
3. driving to MOT station there was a knocking from underneath????

Wish me luck

Cheers Garith.

Did it pass mate?

Hiya Kevin,

To cut a long and disaterous 2 hours short. NO pass and maybe a blown engine!!!!!!!

Just after i posted i had a call from the MOT station telling me a water pipe had split and was pouring steam all over the MOT station. So i drove down (about 1 mile away). First thing i did was turn on the ignition to read Commander readout. TEMP 119!!!! The hose which had split was from the AST to expansion bottle. So i replaced the hose with a new one, refilled water with boling water. Went through the burping procedure to try and get out the air pockets. Waited about 40 mins for the engine to cool down abit. Then went through the burping procedure again. As the station had only done the brakes/lights it still needed the emmisions testing to be done. So we started the car again by then temp was reading 76, Started the emmisions test, did the pipe up the exhaust & the pipe in the dipstick hole. Started to do the next part and the temp readout shot up to 109 so i shut down the engine as i did this the same pipe burst again. Steam & water everywhere. So No MOT as he could not finish it most probably water seals gone due to high TEMPS.......

At least he did not charge me for the MOT so there is £50 to goto the rebuild cost LOL.

Damn.....

Sorry to hear that mate.  If it\'s any comfort i\'ve had that happen twice to me in the past, gone and left an imported fd at the MOT station for it\'s first MOT for registering, only to be given a phone call that the car has overheated.

It\'s even worse when these cars were getting ready for their new owners. :(

Oh man what a bummer,  I know when I took mine to be tested in Cleveland here in the North East I would pre arrange the test and chat the lads up so the moment I arrived they shoved the sniffer up its pipe and did the static test for the cat.  I had blasted the car down the A19 for 15 miles at speed so it was at its optimal temperature.

As soon as it was over they turned off the engine cos the car was on the ramp.

Only when they had done EVERYTHING else did they start the car again and do the brake test.

Its YOUR car you must insist that they look after it !!!!

Watch them like hawks and make sure you sit in the car and opperate the controls etc when thay ask ( an extra pair of hands is never refused as you come free but if they tie one of their employees up it costs them )

Good luck with the motor.

I have seen an opperater try to coax a car through the emmisions and blown a head gasket on a punto in the bargain.  The lamda sensor was buggered !!!
