Hi Guys

I\'ve got a slight problem with a spot of damp... every time I open the boot after it\'s been raining, I get a small torrent pouring out of the plastic cladding on the inside of the hatch.  It\'s getting to the point where I\'m thinking of getting some goldfish for the spare tyre well...

It looks like the rain is getting in under the sealant strip around the glass - so, does anyone have any suggestions on the best way to reseal this?

I\'m getting tempted to just rip the original plastic strip off, and use some bathroom sealant - except white wouldn\'t go so well on my car... :D

try sealing the spoiler mounts first

Definitely spoiler mounts. Had this on my last FD, the rubber foam stuff supposed to keep the water out from between the spoiler and the bootlid goes all hard and cack, and lets the water in. The mounts are easy to get to, just take off the interior boot trim, but they\'re an absolute PITA to remove, you have to like squeeze, twist and pull the spoiler all the same time with the boot open and try not to break any! That goes for all the clips and fasteners, particularly the little pegs that hold the strings for the parcel shelf, they are made out the most fragile plastic known to man! Once you get the spoiler off, scrape off all the crap foam rubber stuff and use galloooons of silicone sealant (or something like Sikaflex if you never want the spoiler to come off ever again lol) and bung it back on. Jobs a good un!

With that said, I did have to get the rear screen re-sealed on mine once as well, cost about 60 quid from a local travelling auto glazier, but he was really not happy with how tricky it was to do, especially what with the shape and rarity of the glass. Beter hope it\'s not that, but from my experience, I\'d put money on it being the spoiler mounts, like Martiny said.

Well. I\'d maybe put 50p on it, just in case....
