Hi,
I\'m in need of advice again.
As some will know, I suffer from the leaking sump problem. The car is still stripped down, however in preparing various parts to ensure I do not suffer the same problem a third time, I am thinking of installing an engine damper.

I have identified that the engine mount on the turbo side was contaminated in oil and had become very soft, so that has been replaced with another mount.
But as it seems the leak could be related to engine/sump flexing under heavy torque, I am thinking of also installing a damper.

Engine is running a Garret GT40 single turbo and lots of essential support parts etc, producing 450bhp at 0.9bar, mapped to 540bhp at 1.25bar.

Does anyone have experience of using one, do they work ? etc.

Thanks
Chris

Yes, I have and yes they do. It\'s never going to be a fix for knackered engine mounts or that, but definitely makes a difference. I dunno if it\'d stop your engine torquing enough to prevent it breaking the sump sealant :eek, if that\'s whats happening, sounds a bit extreme to me, but mines just a humble twin tubby, so I can\'t say fer sure. Made the biggest differemce to the gear change on mine, no longer find that third gears rotated off somewhere else when you need it in a hurry, and the clutch engagement is a lot smoother and more predictable.

i have an engine damper fitted and yes it def improves things. however i got a pair of the nylon(advertised as poly) engine mounts that were a group buy on here a while back and have fitted them. yes they cause a vibration below 3k but the improvements in the way the gear change is and that they completley stop the slack i used to feel when slowing down whilst using engine breaking it is soooooo much better. so if you can find some i would reccomend them. also i may get get rid of my damper soon as i dont think its really doing anything now let me know if you might be interested in it.

Yeah I would suggest uprated engine mounts as well, don\'t go for solid mounts else the whole car will rattle badly lol

Si,
Yes I might be interested in buying yours. What make is it and is it the type that locates on the inner wing and connects to the engine lifting lug mounting bolts ?
When will it be available, and how much ?

PM me.

Thanks
