Hi all, just hired a hoist to lift my engines out but it dont seem to want to shift, the downpipe is unbolted but still attached, and i can only get a gap of like 10mm in between tranny and engine. anybody got any hints, on removing them:xconfused

thanks all,

clutch has all the bolts removed from around it externally and internally

are the engin mounts catching the subframe?
and have you disconected the wiring harness to the gearbox? and starter

sorry if you have covered these easy points but i know its easy to miss the obvious stuff

the engine mounts may be catching the subframe, do i need to remove these then?

should the engine just come out vertically with pressure on the hoist or does it need prizing toward the front bumper?

wiring harness to the gearbox, what does this look like? the gear box is staying in the car, so im a bit stumped

arrouk

the  harness runs from the engine harness along the top of the g/box to all the plugs on the side, i think there is a clamp above the starter/slave cylinder as well. from what i remember i think i lifted my motor off the mounts and took them off to make life easyer.

right ill check that clamp,

so hoist teh engine up a little? remove mounts?

check that harness

and it should lift out?

This may sound silly but are all the engine/gearbox bolts out, when the starter is pulled off there is one there. Ive known people to forget this ;)
Other than that, all the suggestions as above.

Also it helps to jack the gearbox up as far as it can go.

Hey all done, it was the gearbox lines, just unplugged and up it went, i didnt need to jack the g,box up what is the advantage in doing this? The only other problem was the manifold being very hard to unbolt.
