Hi guys I have just started my freshly rebuily FD and I was wondering what the normal water temperature would be? Many thanks.

Also what is the job of the air pump?

Alex.

Cooch

Air pump puts fresh air into the exhaust system to keep emmissions down.

Thanks Cooch, hows your RX going?

Also whats the recomended oil for the engine, I have filled it with 10/40 Mineral oil but I dont seem to have much oil pressure?

Timmy

How are you measuring oil pressure and water temp?
My stock temp sensor says about 88 degrees.

Thats good :) My apexi power fc Settles at 85

Oil pressure is just on the dash but it hovers very low towards 0

Yeah standard oil pressure sensor is next to useless to be honest, best bet is to get an oil sandwich plate (saves drilling pipes) and a seperate gauge

"Oil pressure reads near zero until you rev it, then flaps about helplessly? You must be driving an RX-7 FD3-S. Nothing at all to worry about, sir, they all do that..."

Odd how they never put "features" like that into the brochures, isn\'t it lol

Abe130

Thanks guys I will get it sorted asap,

Does anybody know how much they are from mazda or even better an item code?

p.s. Is it safe to drive until this has been replaced? cheers :)

Yeah, mine\'s done it for over three years, only just got round to fitting a new aftermarket gauge. Doesn\'t mean you\'ve got no oil pressure, just that the gauge isn\'t reading it. I think a Mazda one would be a) silly money and b) just as sh!t as the one you have now. Like the man said, fit an oil sandwich plate between the oil filter and housing, and it\'ll give you two easy takeoffs for oil temp and pressure gauges. Then get good afternmarket ones that don\'t flap!

Abe130

Superb, Thank god I was so worried when I saw the low oil pressure reading!

Thanks for all the help :)

Cooch

Mines done that since ive had it too. Yeah shes going good thanks buddy. Should be getting hold of the gearbox for her this weekend so she will finally be back to a 5-speed. Lol How bout yours?

Abe130
