ive just been out to start my fd after it being stood for a few days and it struggled to start and when it did it was very smokey and running abit erratic! after about 30 secs it seemed to level off and run normal again....is this bad news? i mean i know it cant be good but what i mean is, is it rebuild time? :( any help or advice will be very much apreciated so thanks in advance!

You\'ll always get some smoke when it first starts, as long as it clears that\'s the main thing. I wouldn\'t worry too much, it\'s a bad sign when it struggles to start when hot.

Jake

Probably just almost flooded, I wouldn\'t worry about it.  Had the same thing happen to mine.

ahhh thanks alot guys my heart sank when it was smoking and sounding rough i thought id have to be forking out for a rebuild before i even get the chance to drive it properly :( lol, thanks again you\'ve really put my mind at east :D

SiH

I\'ll tkae a vid of mine starting tomorrow - they belch out smoke, especially if not driven for a few weeks :) don\'t worry about it :) I kind of like it :D

Jake

I\'ve found they only smoke when running on mineral oil.  I\'m running fully synthetic oil now and never get any smoke on startup.  When I was running mineral oil she\'d smoke like crazy on startup...

Perhaps also check the alternator is ok, it might have lost a bit of charge when it has been standing :) just a thought

Mine does this too. Mine had also been running lumpy and sounded very restricted but was due to a blocked cat. (had a slight boost issue and she was chucking too much fuel in and the cat couldnt take it) Took her out for a good run and she has been fine since.

pearl_rex

ahhh mines deffo not that :) ive taken the exhaust off from the down pipe back :D thanks for the input ive never heard of anything like that happening before!:eek:

Cooch
