I have a 3rd generation RX7. I noticed oild dripping from the turbo/intercooler pipe. I stipped the pipes down, cleaned it and reclamped it tight. Now when I rev the car, as the revs decrease I the one HKS airfilter makes a sucking honking noise. I am new to RX7\'s and don\'t know why this is happening. There is no engine performance loss and it drives perfectly. it\'s more of any anoying sound that anything. Having searched the internet I have found some conflicting stories of bad shutter valves. Can anyone advise?

theres a pipe coming from the airpump. It Moos when you dont have the little hks filter attached to it. you will notice it will do it about 3k ish when the airpump kicks back on.

I take it this isn\'t a problem then?

I have checked the HKS buble filter and it is attached to the air pump. All the air pump pipes look tight. Do you think the noise isn\'t a problems?

Hi Darrel,

The mooing noise is just the airpump - this can be reduced by using a restrictor in the airpump to filter pipe.

Will catch up with you & john mid week :wave

I popped over to Tims last night and he confirmed what you said. I have a HKS bubble on a pipe going into the air pump. When we took it apart there was nothing in it. Tim diosconnected the airpump and when I rev\'d it the noise disappeared. I will get my brother to make me a restrictor. I may not be able to make the Wednesday night Harvester meet as it\'s my birthday but hopefully we catch up soon.

so what was the issue mate..

he have an rx7 thats sucking/chuffing on the first turbo at idle..

we replaced the air pump as we thought it might be that and no joy still getting a dark vader noise..

but its coming from the turbo .

could it be the wastegate stuck ??

If you rev it to 3000 rpm does the noise stop at the same time as the airpump disengages?
