ok, so hypothetically, if i was to rebuild my own engine how much roughly would it cost me to get the car running 230+bhp from a bridge port or PP? I mean the the price as in the porting itself, and any part upgrades to the car. Also would i be right in thinking with porting the car would need to be remapped?

cheers :D

Would it not just be easier to get a turbo II? its at 200bhp as stock and much bigger scope of mods, just a thought :)

i was waiting for this....easier it may be, but cheaper? who knows. If i were to buy a t2 id spend at least 2 k on it then id be rebuilding the engine. So it comes down to, does the porting and uprating the parts of the car come to more than 2-3 k, i would of thought not but i may be wrong

My 2 peneth worth:

If you go with a Bridge Port - you can see +230 BHP, but fuel economy and emissions will suck ;)  Also, the stock ECU won\'t have a clue what\'s going on if you stick with Fuel Injection, so you\'d either have to go Carb and go mechanical, or use an aftermarket ECU to control Fuelling.

You might get tamer results with a Steet Ported engine - but I think Brett managed to get close on 200BHP at the Fly with some work on the inlet and exhaust porting and not touching the engine porting.

May well be worth getting in touch with one of the tuners on here to see what your options are  - will all depend on what you want to use the car for and what your budget is.

ok thanks for the response. Im sure i heard somewhere that when turbo-ing a an N/A quite a few parts had to be uprated because of the extra power which the N/A couldn\'t take.

Basically the plan is to turn this car into a drift car with a friend and once the engine dies or we need more power, we will rebuild it ourselves. Also i\'d love to take a rotary engine apart and generally work on the car.

Could you not get a blown turbo 13b, rebuild that and put that in and change the ECU etc?

If you want advice on turbo-ing an N/A, there is a chap called Aaron Cake on the rx7club who\'s done a very nice build.  He\'s also got his own website:

Well worth a look !

ok cool thanks for the advice, i just thought porting would be cheaper than getting a t2 engine or a t2. It won\'t be happening for a while, but a call to some garages is deff in order.
