Did you know after being a member of mrc for a few years now tonight has been the first time i\'ve actually come into the rx8 section:eek:!!! As an rx7 owner i felt i had no need to come in here, strange i know as i pay the subs but dont use the site to its full potential!it was like a section that was not relevent to me
Anyway have been looking around now and i find the rx8 has finally caught my eye:)
So over the next few evenings im gonna explore a whole new section(to me anyway)!and maybe even find myself an rx8.:driving

I have both an FD and an SE (!), and have to say both are well worth it.

I have done some minor mods on the \'8 (I just can\'t help myself) - exhaust, air, a few Mazdaspeed carbon bits, and I think it is a great car. Saying that I am probably going to start running the 7 a whole lot more now I am nearly at the 1k miles of careful motoring I needed after my recent project work. Once I have her tuned and refined, I might get rid of the 8 as it\'s just a tad frivolous running 4 rotors !

Ahh but I am really going to confuse things when I get my RX-4 out and about then I will have a real mixture of old n new just need another modded FD to sit in the middle of em !

Rob best not go into the Old Skool section and elsewhere or you will really find out that your club encompasses, past , present and the future, I like to think this Rotary combination is one of the things that keeps this clubs forum "interesting"  :Giggle

The current model RX-8 is probably going to be quite inexpensive to buy next year due to the new model coming out and the stupid tax increase. I\'ve got my eyes on a Winning Blue 231 and might turn the FC TII into a restoration project.

clive i really like the old rx3/4 more the 3 really,i was thinking the rx8 as a stripped track car,i have a track rx7 with good engine and tune but showing signs of a hard life on the bodywork so was thinking of going down the route of transplanting the engine and gearbox  or just engine onto the rx8 gearbox(for 6 speed if thats effective for track work).

Just need to find some people to talk to about the conversion and how much custom and fab work is involved or is it as easy as using original engine mounts?

Hi Rob

As a track car the RX-8 will make an excellent track car due to the suspension configuration coupled with a nice rigid body

Engine will marry up to the existing transmission and it would be just fabricating mounts as the RX-8 mounts are in a totally different place to get the engine in, but the real; problems come when you get to wiring as everything runs back up via the dash and if all the RX-8 stuff is not there then the dash will go haywire.

However if it\'s a pure racer it will be easy as you just rip everything out and run a stripped FD engine wiring loom and ECU to power your FD lump in the RX-8 engine bay
All the best Clive
