Just a quick heads up to say that I had a UK clock set fitted to my RX-7 at Carl\'s last week. I wanted a proper mph speedo and also wanted to fix my sticking rev counter. It was a straight fit, and no speedo convertor chip was needed. I would like to get the odometer reprogrammed, but it seems like it\'ll cost about £200-£300 which is ridiculous. I\'ve checked with DfT and DVLA and there is no legal registration needed for the clock swap even though I\'m not going to bother changing the mileage. As long as I tell a prospective buyer the correct mileage it\'s all good :Thumbs-up

Thanks,

Chris.

Hi Chris,

How does the odometer behave now you have uk clocks fitted?  Is it the same as when a chip is fitted where-by it starts counting in miles or does it continue to count in km\'s?  I really interested to know as this is something I\'ve been considering for my import.

Thanks

Steve

Hi mate,

The data stays with the clocks, so if you\'ve got a Jap car with 40,000 km on the clock and you put in a UK clock set with 80,000 miles, you\'ll see 80,000 miles when you switch on. It will then behave like a UK car and count in miles.

You need to keep a written record of the real mileage for any buyer, and it would be best to get the garage to put it on the receipt if you have it done professionally. As I said above, you can re-program the mileage but it costs a lot! Remember that it is a criminal offence to mis-represent the mileage when selling a car.

Thanks,

Chris.
