Spent 8 hours yesterday compounding, polishing and waxing the whole car and managed to fix the faded paint on the roof and bonnet.

The bonnet was really bad and felt very rough, I didn\'t think it would ever get back to red without a respray but was surprised at what a G6 compund can achieve.

There\'s still some mismatch due to parts of the car being resprayed in the past, but it\'s all super glossy and smooth!

Here\'s the results;

Here they are

red is worst colour for this apparently

yep, I can vouch for that!

managed to get hold of a new set of red mirrors ( whcih don\'t have any lacquer peel and nowhere near as much fade! )

..... acquired newer red bonnet too, which had bits of fade and lacquer peel around the light units area..... amazed at how light these bonnets are! #;o)

my roof is bad too, so in good need of a mop, machine polish etc.... that\'lll be coming ASAP

Is it easy to remove the mirror housings?

I doubt the shine will last very long and will still need a respray but if I can put it off till winter that\'s fine.

fil_auto

will let you know on the wing mirrors - not done it yet although I can see how they do come off...

apparently getting to and taking off the door cards to unplug the mirros is a bit of fun! #;o)

will keep you posted....
