yeah you connected it right

you need to get the after market gauge plumbed in to see whats going on

is there any writing on the side of the FCD - as the s4 and s5 are NOT interchangable

hi guys just thaught i would give my ten penneth i im pretty new to the rotary ting but i learn quick and am not new to turbo monsters, firstly boost cut is bad it is your engines safety devise . my opinion is that fcd are a cheap cure and not proper prevention and hitting 12 psi will fubar your engine sooner rather than later , really you need to address the problem that causes it and in the case of 3" system it is the wastegate. ive been gathering bits for my fc over the last few month and on saturday i put the turbo back on after porting the wastegate and housing i fitted a turbo back 3" system and a cheapo aftermarket air filter (cone jobbie) the only restriction ive temporary kept are the two 90 bends between the turbo and the afm. i also removed all the emmision ****e and although ive not extensivly tested i took her on a 20 mile country lane thraping with lots of full boost high load, low load situations and a couple of dicey moments watching the boost guage and it only just touches .6 bar and then it holds a tad over .5 and no boost cut. so make your own mind up but be warned rotarys are not cheap!

Partially true, of course the reason they are produced and used by world class tuners is because although the MAP pressure sensors voltage is clamped (-and therefore the map sensor never reads above .7 bar boost), the Air flow meter is still calculating the correcting fuel requirements for the amount of air entering the engine. So to be honest theres not really any danger.

If you had to clamp both the AFM and the MAP sensor that might be a different story... (and a guarenteed disaster)

Oh, and in terms of the interal wastegate being too small, Definately a good idea to port it. Standard its a nicely balanced system, but once you free up the very restrictive exhaust, you throw the whole thing out shape and have to start chasing bottlenecks, the next being the tiny wastegate hole.. (which is why I\'m going external)

ive finally got round to drivinit again for a bit and tried the fcd again and i can hear it boosting but it just doesnt feel like - its much more free revving without it connected. also the boost guage doesnt move at all with it connected. it says on the side FC£S ->1989. i\'m thinking it culd be for the previous model FC. havent connected aftermarket guage yet as havent found a mouting point that looks right yet - where do you guys put yours?

i have now fitted the boost guage, and it hits 10psi of boost then settles down to 8 psi until around 4500/5000 rpm then goes upto 10psi again and have hit fuel cut. this is without the FCD connected. the fcd i have is for the series 4 and therefor no good for my engine. looks like i need to buy your fcd benlewismav.
