Heya, im going to be looking at an FC 2morrow, but just need to check a few things with you guys.

I have already been told by Prof what to expect with leaking fluids under the bonnet and such, the car I am looking at is a \'91 and the guy says it hasn\'t been rebuilt to his knowledge, but has a strong engine at 77k miles...meaning I think it might have been rebuild before he got it, so I just need to check what I need to look out for if the engine needs a rebuild, incase it hasn\'t lol apparently it has had all the mazda servicing meaning it would have been done, but can you guys give me a check list of stuff I need to look out for if the engine needs re-building, the engine bay looks quite clean, much like another FC I have seen that did have its engine rebuild and ancillaries changed, so I think it must have been, being on 77k etc

what things do I need to check for?

rust , rust , rust and more rust

get underneath and bang the hell out of the sills - thats where they usually go

make sure it drives OK and starts from hot and cold

make sure its cold when you get there and it should fire first touch

drive it round for 10 mins come back and turn it off - then see if it will start again straight away no probs

when its cold - take off the rad cap and start it up - there should be no bubbles in the tube - if its like champagne - then the coolant seals have failed

oh yeah - check for rust :D

lol ok rust lol :D its on 77k miles, but I dunno if its been rebuilt, if it hasn\'t been rebuilt shall I just walk away?

Brett

A TII can do more than 77k if it has been serviced and looked after - just treat it as you would any old car, look for the usual wear items and if you have any doubts override your heart and use your head! :wave

He he :) only a few in existance with the more powerful BG GT engine in the BA chassis lol all the power of a V6...without the fuel cost or weight :D lol I decided to downsize the engine size with the RX...u know, saving the planet an all going from 1.8 to 1.3 :D
