I want a 1997 Mazda RX7 in Black, cos if it\'s not black, it\'s whack. I\'ve got the cash and now i just want to know who to get to bring in for me from Japan. Who offers the best deals/service/pricing etc?

Any help would be great.

Thanks

Jit

Why dont you buy one thats already in the country. Atleast then you know what you are getting. Are you after a standard car? A modified car?
1997 FDs still fetch decent money in Japan so i doubt youd get a nice undamaged one over for less than 6k tbh

Importing is pot luck, you can pay top $ to an importer/broker and still find out nasty things about an allegedly great/straight car later on. The best one I\'ve ever imported I bought completely blind direct from auction, pot luck.

There\'re so many in the country now, you\'re better off searching hard over here imo.

If you are after a standard example, you wil eb hard pushed to find a nicer one than the 1998 Black FD which Jason @ Super7autos (01903810139) has. Its a totally standard car which if I was in the market for a nice black FD, would be top of my wishlist! All of his cars come with the super7 rebuilt engine and are all in mint condition!

i seeeeeeeeeee. the vibe i seem to get from import sites is that you\'re better of importing, e.g. lower miles, better condition, higher spec, cheaper. autoadvan seem to think i can get a mint 97\' car for 5k landed. i want a car as standard as possible as this is my first jap performance car. but it seems you guys feel im better off getting one already here, i guess its less stress and you can a bit more history. surely a grade 4+ car means its straight/not stolen/no credit owing/good compression etc? now i dont know what to do!

Well I cant speak for autoadvan but having personally been to the auctions as a newbie average joe, I can safely say that buying off an auction grade sheet aint the way forward. You could get shafted in so many ways.
Ive seen grade 4 cars with a fair bit of damage. ive seen grade 4 cars which dont start with no mention of any engine problems on the sheet. Ive seen grade 4 cars which have clearly had panels replaced. Ive seen grade 4 cars which have clearly been clocked (or someones replaced the seats, seatbelts and steering wheel and dash for heavily worn items!!!).
You erally are better off buying from here if you can. You can see the car, and drive it and check the seller out for yourself. Thats just my experience of the used car auctions in Japan.
And in all realisty, i reckon for 5k landed you wont get anything on a grade 4 or higher. Not from what i saw...for 5k youre prob looking at a 97 grade 3.5 maybe with some light damage (thats once the importer has taken their cut...)

You are better off source one in the country like many have suggested, or take a nice short holiday to Japan n pick one out from RE-A or Feed.
