Right, tried bolting the clutch in last night, and failed miserably. Couldn\'t fully rotate it to get the pegs on the flywheel to line up with the clutch plate. Have had a pointer that the clutch push roddy thing that operates the clutch arm (Forgive the naming - i\'m in a rush and can\'t remember the proper names!!) needs to be removed as that gets in the way of the clutch. Are there any other pointers? I was thinking of unbolting the bolts between the engine and gearbox, chokcing the engine at the front and letting it drop forward it bit to give a bit more room to rotate the clutch.

Thoughts? Pointers?

its a whole lot easier disconnect the clutch outer from the gearbox and bolt it up on the flywheel complete using an alignment tool (or 1\\2 extension) then put the box on and click the release mechanism back in through the inspection hole nearest the slave cylinder

i\'ve done this job twice before like it is, was just looking to see if there are solutions to make my life easier. By the way, the reaosn it needs doing is because a fresh engine has been dropped in place.

Oh, and we\'re talking FD.

so did you leave the box in the car when you took the engine out?

the way i mentioned saves fiddling around doing the bolts up and struggling to get the clutch outer over the f/w dowels through the inspection cover on the bottom of the gearbox.

it involves you having to take the box off again but i promise you it\'ll drop straight back on and all you have to do is click the fork that the slave pushes against back on to re-attach the release bearing to the outerplate. job done.

when i rebuild engines i leave the box in the car. when im ready to put the engine in i bolt the clutch assembly up on the engine whilst its on the stand and just click the release fork in once the box is bolted up.

hope this is some sort of help to you

i had exactly the same thing mate when i last put mine back in.
For some reason the\\clutch just wouldn\'t rotate enough to line up the dowels & bolt holes.
I used a hefty screwdriver and spent a while rotating the flywheel both ways as much as it would and kept trying to mave the clutch and eventually it reached a point where i could line it all up.
If you\'re still strugling by the weekend i may be able to pop round and lend a hand?

Woohoo! Done it! :D Left work early, started work on the clutch at 10 past 5, and was packing up at half 6! Took an hour and 20 minutes. Blimey. Still, important thing is, it\'s now done. Pain in the butt.
