Hi all, I just like to introduce myself.:wiggle

Im Shane and ive been researching RX7s for a while now.:InLove. :D and still am...The reason for the title is because ive tried to join a few times with different email adds but never been able to post on any.. Admin probably never finished me off, LOL... Anyways, I want to make sure i know everything or as much as i can before i take the plunge into buying an RX7.. So far im well impressed.. The rotary is an amazing piece of work.... Ive bought books, downloaded dvds, and asked questions... And very keen to no more... Im all excited... I will be getting one as soon as ive finished my skyline project so ive plenty of time to learn..:guinness

Anyways... Heres to the search, LOL :guinness.. If i cant find anything on search i will ask so is this the right section to ask about gen 3s??

One question..
Using google, magazines and other RX7 sites it has me slightly confused on the rebuild situ.
Is it true that the engine needs rebuilding every 60k as others say yes and others say no?? even say with rx8 or apex rotors ??:Thumbs-up

Oh, and this is the beaut that made me want one even more!!!!!!

.. In the hot version 91 dvd..

Thanks for your time chaps :D :3gears-rh

On a Turbo rotary 60K has been the average figure when a rebuild needs done either because the water seals go or the Apex seals need changing, this due to the heat produced because of the higher power output, there have been FDs that have not been rebuild past 100k.
Non Turbo Rotaries last much much longer

oooh nice inspiration car! Looks just like mine LOL! http://www.mazdarotaryclub.com/forums/showthread.php?t=47564

With regards to rebuilds, unfortunately, its part and parcel of the rotary. Either the water seals fail after a given amount of time or the seals wear and you gradually lose compression regardless of which apex seal you use

So it will need doing every 60k if i have 400bhp atws??.. That be the same price each time or will it get cheaper if the parts are good... What is the price of a rebuild for every 60k.. Thanks Mr.Blitz :cheers

S3TH

Dude if you\'ve 400atws I\'d say 40-50k, bearing in mind that is still quite a lot of mileage for a car like that :)
Rebuild price depends on spec, for 400atws you would definitely be looking to get a port.

WGT are not too far from you if you\'re in Lancashire, and they have an excellent reputation...

Plus the beauty with these motors alot of people overlook is that a rebuild doesn\'t cost anywhere near the same price as a skyline. You could get 3 rebuilds for the cost of a modded skyline engine.

Other stuff that is up in the list if you are looking at stuff that has been over here is if all the suspension bushes are ok. If you can get one that is already poly bushed then that is a bonus.

Welcome :D

Lol, i know mate... I did think the rebuilds would be very expensive by the way everyone was saying..... I was quite impressed with the rebuild price.. LOL...  Again though skyline engines are also very very easy with it being a straight six, just you get skyline tax everywhere on every single thing!!!!!!!
Thanks for the welcome mate..

Im in blackpool grinder... Well being told the skyline would cost around £6000+ for a rebuild a rex is nearly nothing, LOL. I thought it would be more the way most people talk about it... Ive always been really keen on the fd rx7 and i think its about time to get one, so the research continues.. :D :guinness
