Hi Guy\'s,
I have finally chosen my new single turbo car, went for a test drive today, excellent Seller, (member on this forum), however one point we were both unsure about, so can anyone offer advice.

The car is a 1992, now a single turbo producing 377bhp at wheels at 1 bar.
The gear lever is very sloppy in neutral and equally sloppy when engaged in each gear. But it selects each gear easily and did not jump out of gear.

What can cause this effect and should I be concerned ?

Thanks
Chris

Hi,
Could you direct me to any information on this collet, ie; how to replace it, where to buy one from ?

Any help is appreciated.

Thanks
Chris

Hey RX7 Veilside, is that a subliminal hint that your short shifter may be for sale at some time in the future ??

B&M shifter is definitely an accquired taste. I think mine\'s great, but it does take a bit of getting used to, its very stiff till it all warms up a bit (and the shifter!). Like Ash said, it does whine, and like RX7Veilside said, you do need to re-use the doobrie off the bottom of the original gear stick (and you need thumbs like steel traps to squeeze it on the new one, too!). When I swapped the B&M onto my new Rex, the standard gear lever on it was knackered, all the seals were torn and perished, flopped about like a pr!ck in a shirtsleeve, but my first car, it wasn\'t so bad. They were the same age and similar mileage, so dunno why such a difference, but to cut a long story short your gear shifter may just simply be worn out. Worth having a look, very easy to get to
