Hi everyone, just bought a 13b na to fit in my project car yet I am not sure what I should do with this engine, as I am unsure if it needs a rebuild. I bought it from someone who got it from someone else who said it was a working engine   I was wondering if anyone had any ideas if you can do a mini rebuild? Or change some bits to insure that it wont need a rebuild for a while.
Any help be great

Hi Louie :wave

First off, how long has the engine been standing?

Secondly, squirt some oil into the ports and make sure its all free and turns over.  Now turn it over and check that all the apex seals are intact. (Looking through the exhaust port, should be fairly obvious if any are broken.

If it\'s high mileage then it will be heavily worn inside, however you cannot verify this easily without stripping it down. (Unless you have a rig setup so that you can run it up etc) Even a basic strip down could cost you a few hundred pounds simply for the gaskets etc, if it\'s worn then you should budget around £750+ for parts. (Assuming you have access to a tool room then it shouldn\'t cost you any more than that.)

Theres loads of people on here who can help, give advice or impart words of wisdom after the horse has bolted :Giggle

Out of interest, whats the project?

Good luck and welcome on board :yes :Giggle

plus i was wondering if a carb set up would be a  better way to go if i am dealing with a car with very little space?

All depends on what car it is getting fitted in. A carb is an easy way of getting up and running. There are alot of carbs available.
