Name this Part - Fun game!

Anyone know what this is? It sits on my battery, and is connected to various places around the engine/airpump.

Looks like one of those fad ecomomy/more power gadgets from a few years ago. If I remember correctly, there should be something around the fuel pipes from this device. Can\'t remember how they were meant to work, something to do with altering the fuel somehow, but never heard any more in recent years so guess they never delivered on that promise.

Have, done some googling, thats what it looks like. Are these things programmable? do they piggy back on the stock ECU?:confused:

It\'s an \'earthing/voltage stabiliser\' kit - Snake oil
There are advantages to creating circular earths, so it\'s all good, but inside that box is probably a few cheap diodes.

Quite often to be found on eBay with \'tuning\' names on them, that aren\'t exactly santioned by the company in question
Won\'t do any harm though.

Righto, so its a piece of cr4p then. Would it be interferring with my air pump/emissions control (as it attached to the airpump?) The car failed its MOT due to emissions, so if it helps to remove........ :chat

no, its jsut a sticking plaster for iffy earths (and you may as well keep it on) as for emissions, what modas has it got, and is the air pump working? if the airpump is working (check it is connected!) then you shouldnt have issues with passing emissions at idle.

Thanks Marco, its spinning on the belt, so it \'looks\' like its working. Have got the workshop manual online, so am going to have to have a play around with it to make sure its working.

make sure it is connected, the pump has a clutch on it that disengages when the pump is not plugged in or above a certain rpm. when i had mine on i only connected it for mot, the car used to fart and splutter with it connected, but as it was effectively pumping clean air straight into the exhaust port, emissions were a doddle!

Ahh, thanks. So it will spin all the time, but only put the clean air into the exhaust when the air pump clutch is engaged. Will look for that, I read something that says it kicks in/off at 3000 RPM?

yeah thats about right. its a simple plug behind it that normally get undone, plug it in and see if it spins up on idle!
