If it was my car i\'d have told him not to drive it, it\'s a difficult one really i don\'t think you can place full blame on the mechanic although he was a bit daft to take it for a joy ride.

Good luck with the fix :)

The clutch wasnt slipping from the word go so it had seen  over 1,000 miles of good boost figures.

I havn\'t at any point said he is to blame for for giving it boost, i have said i dont think it was a good idea giving it boost when it was that low on juice though. He has driven it before and been out in it many times so i dont think he would have driven it any different to how i would have, It more than likely would have done the same if i had collected it to be fair.

Ive also lent cars off him many times some being a fair amount faster than this one. He is insisting that it went just as it came onto boost but i cant prove him wrong or correct of course.

The gerneral opinion of the clutch was it didnt look too bad, the engine had been out of the car 13,000 miles beforehand and we were not sure if it had got a new clutch then, so thought it may be okay. Would running this amount of boost kill off a standard clutch very quickly?

Ive done a basic test on the rear rotor and that seems to be giving even pulses, I couldnt get to the front plug last night so will do this on the weekend to check the front rotor.

The issue iam going to have is i could be leaving the country in the next month or so and aint really going to have the time or money for a rebuild so does anybody have an idea how much this car would be worth showing possible tip damage. I know of a couple of people interested but not how much it would be worth

Dropped a tip on the front rotor :(

Real sorry to hear that buddy.

definitely the cause would be running good boost on stock ecu :(

Chin up, sure it will get sorted

Ive spoken to carl so hoping to find out how its boosting to high and what can be done to lower it in order to prevent it re-occurring without the added expense of an ECU.

I cannot justify spending the £700 on the ecu with mapping for a car iam having to sell. I personally dont think the car would be worth £700 extra and he has other customers running non-sequential with stock ecu so it must be possible to achieve.

Hopefully the back rotor will show some good compression results and it will only require a partial strip down.

strange_days_uk

good luck with that, keep us posted

does the car have a boost controller, and was it historically working properly.  If so, your mate may have had a little fiddle with it ?

deanflowers

No boost controller, he isn\'t the type to do that to be honest. He is a tidy kind of bloke.
