Typical, I find a car that fits my bill and find it has been registered as a 2.6. Now the insurance firm who would quote me on a car with a 1300cc displacement can\'t quote on the 2.6 because it isn\'t in the system.

Has anyone got around this problem?

Any help appreciated!

Thanks

Tim

batman

my vehicle was insured as a 2.356 thats what the guy said the data base has the rx7 listed under

What does it say on the logbook?

same problem other way round.

i rang 40-60 companies and completed the whole yellow pages with mine. i shouldbe faxed a copy of the log book but didnt (apparently you can do that if they dont beleve its a 1300) but all said 2414 or 2616 or something. insured for one year as a 2414 but realised that is for an fc didnt bother me and next year new company 2616 etc.

my tax id only £115 a year so i really feel for anyone who has the 2600 log book.
fduk.

my rex7 was unlucky and its been registered as a 2600. im with elephant and they have it as a 2354 if i remember correctly I made them write a note on my policy that they have the capacity wrong.

and on my log book it says 2600cc

Because i\'m looking for a single turbo car i\'m finding it difficult to get insurance quotes. The one company who would quote me happy are now saying that unless they can find it on the ABI then they won\'t insure me.

Having called them and telling them it\'s a Type R and registered a 2.6 they said they can\'t quote me. After me telling them that this may need addressing as they are losing business they didn\'t seem interested.

It might be time to qrite a suitably worded email to them and see if i get anything back.

Unfortunately DVLA have woken up to the fact they can steal some more of our hard-earned from us by classing them all as 2.6. When I registered my current FD the woman at DVLA insisted on doing it as a 2.6. When I kicked up about it, since it was the same engine from out of my previous written-off car, which was registered as 1.3 she showed me the internal memo they\'d recieved about it.

Apparently it went like this; some bright spark at DVLA had got Mazda to agree that since there more power "strokes" per revolution than a piston engine (or some such gibberish), they could double the capacity for registration/tax purposes. That means I now get utterly raped on tax, but those lucky enough to have registered earlier pay less. Which really grips my sh!t since the exact same engine was taxed at the lower rate for the first five or six years in this country in another car! And since when has road tax been determined by power output? Why aren\'t two-strokes charged double? Consistency, please!

I registered at Brighton DVLA, and the officious bird at the desk did seem particularly keen, and very pleased with herself to have cost me a load more money, but it wouldn\'t surprise me if other offices with less malicious staff haven\'t caught up with it yet. The insurers didn\'t seem to care, they class all FDs as 2600 already (or the ones who know what they\'re talking about did). I think they use the 2400 capacity for FCs but may be wrong on that one

Yup youre right Nik, do a forum search and youll see that alot of insurance  companies incorectly state the FD capacity at 2.4, which is the FC capacity.

This could cause problems during a claim (?)

Try an import Jap specialist such as A-Plan, they have mine right at 2.6 (not 1.3 or 2.4).  Mine is registered as a 1.3 on the log book BTW, but that shouldnt reflect on insuance and aint going to make it dead cheap :)

I\'ve tried following today:

A-Plan, AON and Sky who all say i need to be over 25!

Is this gonna be your main car or a second car??

You can insure it as a classic / cherished car if it\'s a second car you see which costs a lot less usually....

Mines a UK car and has been classed as 2616cc since day one....  just be thankful tho Rex\'s are not taxed on the emissions like they are now!!! Now that would be expensive...

If you\'re struggling with A-Plan and AON you really are struggling, as these are prob the cheapest and best to insure modified cars.... I wouldn\'t touch Sky to be honest, heard bad things about them from some Skyline owners.....

Dude. told you! its proper hard to get insured on a single if your less than 30 and a virgin as well lol.

if you do manage to find someone who will insure you, they will rape you till it bleeds.

Just sent lengthy email to a partner at Greenlight who i\'m trying to get insurance through.

Looks like i\'ll have to let this car go, insurance is a real nightmare!

T11MNM

The car is going to be run as a second car, has anyone had any dealings with Keith Micheals?
