My Sony only puts the aerial up when switched to radio (see a trend emerging here?), but doesn\'t even put it up for Traffic announcements. Maybe that\'s cos it\'s so old skool it still has a cassette slot (ask your dad!) :D .

I\'m so ashamed....

Quote from: adamkYes, It shall have to be a switch if not!, but its a sure bet some prat will rip if off if I park with it left up, unless I do some fancy relay type wiring to make it come down with 12v supply off even with swith on type of thing??? oh er!

A switch to the aerial wire does this anyway, with the switch in the "on" position and the headunit on the aerial goes up, as soon as the headunit goes off or the ignition is off the usual signal is still sent from the headunit and the aerial goes down.

With the switch in the "off" position the aerial will never go up and if it\'s up when you switch it off it will go down.

Peice of pi$$, stick in a swtich, job\'s a carrot! :D

Just to finish off the subject, I got this from Pioneer this morning:

Hi,

The antenna will always be extended when the unit is on, no mater if your listening to radio, CD or any of the other units functions.

The antenna is needed for the RDS traffic announcements and also to allow the radio to retune in the background if you move from one transmitter to another.

We are aware that some users place a switch in the antenna activation line, allowing them to drop the antenna for car washes ect but this is not advisable when driving for the reasons above.
The antenna output is the blue line on the ISO adaptor, you should be able to obtain a latching switch from the manufacturer of the car to maintain its look.

Best regards,

To sum it all up with new pioneer head unit, You need a switch to drop the mast, however the mast will drop itself once the car is turned off as this power supply is lost once ignition is turned off.

Great Thanks everyone:WaveBye :WaveBye

You should have a aerial in the rear screen, so just disconnect the up/down aerial and use the rear screen one

batman

this is the reason for it item 1 bellow a sony loom the pail blue is the antenna out put and the blue and white is the amp remote.seperate power feeds so the aerial goes up with radio on .
pioneers only have 1 out put doing both amp and aerial when the units on not switching :Thumbs-up
