Hi! I\'m currently looking for an FD as my first mazda, and went to see one today. We actually have like 20 of those in the whole country to be honest.

This one was imported unit (japan) and the seller has had an mot done. nothing to say, other than rear tyres that still have some life on them.

Anyways.  We started the car and the guy sais that this happens from time to time. The Add coolant light was on right from the start and the annoying sound with it. He said that it doest happen all the time, and it actually didn\'t came on when we started her again. the car was idling for about 15 mins and everything seemed to be ok. temps at half way, no weird sounds what so ever. and no add coolant light. What might cause this? There was no smoke either or even smells. The seller told me that it\'s not eating any coolant.

he also has mazda japans service stickers to 90 ish K km\'s (now done 96k).

One other thing that catched my eye was the oil pressure gauge. it was standing very much at 0 on idle, but came up to around 4 bar right away when i pushed the pedal. it came down like in few steps tho. is this more like and added extra :chat that happens to every gauge?

also he said that the windows did work last time he used the car (it\'s standing as there is no tax payed and registered yet), but they seem to be dead. mirrors work ok.

Ok then the last thing.

while the car was idling, and had been hidling a good 15 mins, it gives some oil from the exhaust system when i rev it. is this because of the weird lubrication system? there was some drops, just like you get water fom exhaust time to time.

The car is 1993 model. leather rear seats, fabric fronts. Air conditioning. usual electronic things. glasses, mirrors. seems to be quite standard. had HKS intercooler hard pipes tho, Tein suspension, Mazdaspeed wheels. No aftermarket boost controller, but a turbo timer there was.

any idea of the basic model? we don\'t really get too much info with the cars and the papers he got from Japan ,were very basic.

Hi

I\'d be concerned, just too many little things and a couple that could turn into big things.

Can\'t see the windows being more than just a wiring, motor or switch problem.

The coolant buzzer would put buzzers in my head. A \'must to get sorted\' before parting with any money.

The stock oil gauge is famous for being unreliable but again could be an issue.

No idea why there should be oil dripping out of the exhaust.

I started with nothing and I have most of it left

Ok so it seems like there is something wrong in the engine side? I think it was oil that came from the exhaust. not 100% sure.  I would think that it would give some sort of sings of problems when idling if there was some serious going on. I\'m not an expert tho!

Could there be a sensor or something that messes up with the coolant warning or something?

forgot to say that it has like a HUGE exhaust system fitted. i\'d  say at least 3". apexi backbox

The low coolant buzzer/warning sensor is just below the filler cap (front of the engine). I had the same issue, occasional warning light/buzzer on start up. I replaiced the Air Seperation Tank (not that expensive) and problem solved.
That said, air in the system can be caused by many things, including blown water seals (you don\'t want to know the cost of getting that sorted). I\'d be inclined to get the owner to replace the tank before you buy, and if he is selling the car and honestly believes the buzzer issue is an intermitant problem, he should oblige and seal the deal. If not, I\'d tend to walk away. Many cars out there at the moment. You really don\'t want to start with a dog from day one.

Can\'t help with the oil in the exhaust (I\'m assuming you mean blue smoke?) Couls be a number of things from minor to expensive.

thanks mate. i think my problem is lack of knowledge on these beautifull cars. i have built several piston engines and know a few things about them, but the rotary is totally new thing. there was no smoke what so ever. it was more like a water spray gun like drips on the floor (those you use to wet your hair with) i see the same kind of splatter with my own car when some moisture gets in to the exhaust.

so it the sensor inside the tank then? Is there some clear way to check it if  i go and see the car again?
