Rear lens dilemma?

Hi all,
Ive received new rear lenses for a 1979 sa22c[mk1 RX7]
They look great,but their different to old lenses on car.
On old lenses & my s3 1985 rex,the indicator lens is on the sides of the units.
The new lenses have lights & brakelights on the sides of the units & the indicators next to the reverse lense!
Also got 2nd hand lenses from US for 79 rex & theyre the same as the new lenses i got from OZ.
Theyre genuine Mazda,is this legal in UK?
The US & OZ seem to use different layouts on their lenses?

the lenses changed from s1 to s2/s3 what year is your 7?

Hi mark,
I know the lenses changed from 79>85.
Mines a 79 mk1,with small rear lens but on new lenses i got from OZ,the brake lights & lights are in the position where the indicators are on the existing cracked lenses still on car.

got you, not 100% you may have to rewire the lights and change the bulbs round?

Yep looks like a bit of fiddling to get them on.
Lenses must be different in US & OZ.

Thanks mullins,that\'s what i wanted to know.
I was watching that red one on ebay.
My new lenses are the same as those on the green rex,but my existing cracked ones on my car are the same as the red rex in your picture.
Are the lenses on the green rex legal in UK,can\'t see why not?

I can\'t see why not either. Just do it. The MOT man won\'t know any different.

That red one is a bit of a mix mash. The wheels and most of the interior are from a series 2 car.:3Confused

Yep i\'ll fit the lenses,might have to extend some of the wires due to differing locations of brake & indicator lights.
Just waiting for new light seals from mazdatrix,not much left of old ones!
The red sa22sc is all over the place,s2 wheels & i think an s3 interior,its the same as an s3 ive got apart from steering wheel.

I have always understood it to be that the rear stop/tail lights should be red indicators orange and the only white light allowd is the reverse light so apart from having the original uk spec look your lenses will be fine

Looks like i\'ll be lucky with the wiring.The wires werent long enough to reach the brake & light indicator position on the new lenses,but i also ordered some 2nd hand complete units from the US,there the same & come with the loom i need attached.
Should be able to just plug in & change bulbs around.

So that means rear lenses are different in OZ & US also.
