My Coolingmist water injection has decided to pack up :( Everytime I try to test it, it keeps blowing fuses... I also tried a direct connection to the positive and nothing happens it just shorts out... any advice on what the problem could be?

If I have to get a new one can anyone recommend a decent one (at a good price) ?

Sounds like the pump has shorted across the commutators on the motor - Not sure if you can get at the brushes on the back of the motor without breaking the seal on the pump.

If you can, try cleaning up the copper plates where the brushes are, and remove the graphite buildup.  I\'ve seen this short motors before.

I\'d go with ERL, at least they are in this country and can repair/replace the unit.

Prof you my friend are a genius ! I managed to open the pump and take it apart... it was full of limescale and rust everywhere... I cleaned everything thoroughly and applied some WD40, put it back together and hey presto... it\'s working :driving :mmmm .... at least this has saved me some money for other bits on the FD :Giggle

Keep an eye on that though Kash.  If you map to the WI and then it goes, so could your engine !!

Totally agree, that\'s why I would never get it mapped with the WI, I just want to use it as a safety feature, nothing more nothing less :guinness

Prof

glad to be of help - and I agree with Strage_days, if your mapping for WI then keep a close eye on it.  Sounds like a seal might have gone in the pump if you\'ve got crud in there.

I don\'t think it was a seal that had gone, the way the pump is sealed from the outside is crap, no wonder water got in... I used sealent with all the joins so no water from outside can get in... now I hope it just stays like that lol :wiggle
