Why is that when I\'m considering buying a later, possibly 99spec rx7 that theres not many for sale!? :(

I think I saw a red one going along the M20 yesterday,
looked sooo nice! :King

Anymore out there??

ESVA ;)
Any genuine 99 cars will have to be imported before the new ESVA rules (possibly 2003?)
There is no model report for them, so if you want to import one now you have to wait until they are 10 years old, so don\'t need an ESVA.

Nothing to stop you putting the nice \'99 spec bits on an older car though ;)

Exactly.  Upgrade the turbo\'s and ecu, and a few external cosmetics and you\'ve got practically the same. ;)

Red and Single

In 10 months time, they will be importable :D

99 spec turbo\'s are standard oem equipment, 99 spec external items are standard oem equipment..... So in actual fact the only real aftermarket part would be the ecu, and too be honest, take the badge off the casing to the ecu and no one would no the difference.

Also no offence to insurance loss adjusters, but a client of mine who bought an mr2 from me smashed it up not long after, the car was brought back to my garage to be inspected.  When the loss adjuster was looking around it he popped the bonnet and was stumped as he could not see any engine................................:wiggle .................................:Thumbsup!

Dont quite understand that?
I ment that at my age, I cant have anything other than a standard rx7

Kevin

It means in a nut shell that the loss adjuster didnt even know the engine of an MR-2 was in the rear of the car.  Therefore if you were ever in an accident and had the car inspected I seriously doubt they would notice that it was any different being 99 spec.

Basically my point was that adding 99 spec stuff to an RX7 isnt really like adding a bodykit as it\'s all OEM stuff, therefore you wouldnt have to mention it as is it is no different from standard.

Mind you if your that concerned about your insurance, dont you think it would be better getting an older RX7 as it will probably be slightly cheaper to insure as the value of it wouldnt be as great?

Plus I doubt that you\'d find any rx7\'s that are completely bone stock nowadays.

Kevin\'s got a point, to most insurance inspectors Im sure ts \'just a job\' and your only going to be in the poo if their a knowledgable car nut.

...besides - sounds like you need to find a proper insurance company.  Who are you with?

And if you were a loss adjuster and really knew about cars etc, would you want to drop someone in it?
I think most wouldnt.

Kevin

Plus you can always argue its standard mazda items, and it was like that on the car when I got it.

Aye - if its an import, then how would one know? Good arguement, especially as there were only a few true UK FD\'s.

SKY insurance, the only company that gave a sensible quote, getting 2k+ before them!

How old are you?

**Edit: ignore me just checked... 21**

It\'s not too bad of an age, there are some people who are insuring rx7\'s at 18 on here I believe?

Personally I loath paying 400 quid for rx7 insurance, but then again I cant even remember being 21. :D
