Hello.

With the ridiculous fuel prices and the low mpg of the RX7, has anyone done, or considered the LPG conversion???

Having spent £100 this week alone on petrol, I was just wondering what the pro\'s and con\'s are, and whether it effects the running and performance.

Any ideas???

Cheers.

There have been and might still be running several RX-7\'s running LPG conversion. DO NOT HOWEVER DO THIS ON AN FD3S!!!!!

An FD wont last long on this. N/A engines will be as happy as a pig in sh....

Might as well buy a sh*tter for the daily run about? with the amount of miles you\'re doing it\'ll be cheaper plus if you get a RWD sh&tter like an e30 etc you can learn to drift with the spare money  :):Santa

Cheers.

Unfortunatley, Ive still got my Astra to get rid of, but I do plan to get some diesel runaround to keep costs down.

It would be great to see if the LPG actually is effective and reliable. If it does, halving the yearly fuel bill would be excellent. I\'ll keep an eye on the threads to see how it comes about.

Thanks.

trust me - shaun will get it working on the FD - we have discussed it for hours - and it will be a SERIOUS set up :D

Fish,  why no go on an FD?
400 BHP - 650 KG\'s = 616 BHP Per Ton of Rotary Power

That\'s the way to do it! :Thumbsup!

Rotechiks used do to the LPG conversion, not sure if they still do.

NA rotary engines dont care about the quality of fuel going in to it, a turbo\'d engine is lot more fussy.

Fish I read on Shanwil LPG thread that LPG has a higer octane rating anyway so in theory should be ok in a turbo rotary

LPG has quite a high octane rating, which is why the "green" variant of the koenigsegg CCX develops more horse power.

Sorry guys, just seen this thread. I\'m currently going to be putting LPG on the FD in the next few months. Its higher RON than petrol, has better burn characteristics.

Just have a look on ausrotary at the number of turbo FB\'s that run on LPG. There are very few that run N/A they like running them with TO4\'s.
