Gas strut help

Hi guys,

i bought some carbon fibre gas struts apparently made for the fd. I also have a carbon fibre bonnot. The problem that i had is that the struts once fitted doesnt allow the bonnet to close as they dont fit between the bonnet and wings.

does anyone have any pics of them fitted?

thanks pete much appreciated.

i am more lost now though as thats exactly how i fitted mine and they are the same size too.

it does say in the instructions that they should only be used on stock hoods and not CF or FRP but i thought that was due to closing it etc which i didnt think was a problem but i didnt think that it wouldnt fit as the stock bonnet isnt any thinner i thought. :(

mine were a pain make sure brackets are right way left and right i needed to fettle the bonnet as well

didnt check the brackets tbh but i just found that the have L and R on them but when i was doing it i did see the L one on the left.

pete sorry to be a pain but do you have a pic of the bracket at all?

dont forget its left as u stand in front not left from inside..honest i spent ages fitting mine and still had to drill/grind some of the bonnet

ah ic hopefully some fettling will end with them on as they are fantastic looking real CF ones.

ill post some pics when done.

Will take a pic of the brackets tomorrow if you like?
In those pics they are fitted to a repilca MazdaSpeed Carbon bonnet and they worked fitted fine.
