Hi All

I have some questions re HKS Racing Suction Kit which I have had fitted yesterday by Powergains Motor Sport. (I am very happy with the job BTW)

Firstly my present engine modds are as follow:

96 FD, Stock twin turbot, HKS super dragger, dragon performance silenced de-cat mid pipe, no cat in the down pipe since it is an import, air pump removed, custom pulleys. Blitz BOV,  Apexi PFC, boost up to 0.92 bar, injector duty max before the HKS R S Kit was 92%, Apexi has a modified map.

My questions are as follow:

1)   Is my injector duty going to go up now automatically and if so will the Apexi know that it has to add more fuel? Incidentally, I will go back and see Jay Dee for a “touch up” on the map.

2)   KKS Kit makes an amazing noise, when I take the car to higher RPM and push the car “a little” and let go of the throttle it almost makes a noise which I can only describe as a “scream”, I like it but is that normal ?

3)   Since I have allegedly a map which accommodates an induction kit will that automatically add the 15 or so BHP to the power output?  I have been told that a proper racing kit like mine (it costs over £400 new) should add some bhp to turbo cars.

4)          Finally, why is this Kit so much better then the stock air box?

It does seem like the car has a touch more pull away power, especially in the lower RPM, is that what one is to expect from this mod?

Who on here has or has had the above Kit fitted and what are your views on it?

i have this kit, it was already intalled on my car so cant tell you how much differnce it makes - i get that kind scream thing, always thought it was my Dump Valve but i guess its the hks !

Hi

that is good, I was beginning to worry something was not right - love the sound, BTW you still should be able to hear you DV right at the beginning of the succession of sounds coming right under you bonnet.  First the dumb valve with a distinctive "tsssss" sound then immediately after and almost together the HKS..

i\'m no exprt, but i dont think inj duty of 92% is a good thing. i\'v always read that anything above 85% can be dodgy.

Hi

You are probably right, it is getting quite high but that measure was taken in 3rd gear reaching all available rpm â€" flat out maximising all available bhp at that time.

This can of occurrence is generally very rare despite my likeness of fast acceleration
Generally as you can imagine, the injector duty is way below 92%

ok michael you have two options....either upgrade your fuel system or if you have a FRP increase you fuel pressure....either way you should really map for these changes........

Or just turn your boost down!.........until you get all you want done and get it mapped once and for all.

Hi

Thanks for your input

I am going to have a touch up on my current map very soon, but according to Jay Dee my current map should cover my HKS Kit,

Are saying them that by installing the HKS Kit I require more fuel? Does my boost go up automatically by having the HKS installed?
ATM I am a touch more careful but as I said at max on boost of 0.94 my injector duty is 92%

What is an FRP and how much does it cost?

FPR= adjustable fuel pressure regulator.

you are the only one who can tell if your boost went up after fitting the hks....what ws it before and after fitting?

Thanks for that.

As you can imagine I am being a bit careful when it comes to going all out on the boost ATM however, all readings seem the same on my commander as far as I can see.

My question is - does the boost or fuel consumption increases automatically when one fits suction kit of this class?
